• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

$$$$ !!!! Max you have paid for knife:

I'm still new to collecting knives. I still don't call what I have a "Collection" just "My Knives."
There are 19 knives, (not counting repros) on my PhotoPoint site, http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=254126&a=1889225
Some were gifts, but my total "out of pocket" spent is under $1200. That works out to about $64 per knife. How is that for avoiding the question?

Harvey McBurnette fancy folder $375
Tim Zowada damascus fighter $315
Jerry Fisk 5" hunter $250
All 3 purchased 12 years ago (before kids)
What seemes like a fortune then is a bargain today.

Well, I really liked the look of the Boker Skywalker, so forked out nearly $175. Very pretty production knife. Next was a shortlived ownership of a MicroTech M-UDT for $160, which my wife found out about and made me sell.

Given a chance and a raise, and I'll be looking for more. I just got out of college and had a kid, so it may be a little while.

Uh-oh - Dave Ellis is on the thread!

I think everyone else can pretty much pick up their toys and go home...

He's got more than a couple knives that can single-handedly make my whole collection look bush league! His recent Loveless & Moran collection photos had me embarassed to call my modest pile of steel a knife collection!

Yup Brian is correct, between him and Dave and most likely a few others that hang around here the rest of us are still in the Kiddie pool

Well, without a doubt it'd be $3200.00 for a Emerson Custom CQC6/Viper MOP Damascus with a right hand grind. Then next in line would be several other Emerson Customs.

$300.00 for a haloIII and $300.00 for a DA Microtech Socom. Someday, mayBE AT THE bLADE SHOw, I will buy a custom knife? I need a custom knife, i need a custom knife?

Just got my special order Elishewitz MARS. Mokume bolsters and orange jig-bone scales.
Sweeeet! $525

The one I'm looking at for my next is even more though, won't say what, but around $675.

I own several fine knives, including a few Morans and Scagels as well as some nice antiques. I'm embarrassed to say how much I've spent. I justify my knife expenditures as investments, but we all know that's at least partially a rationalization. I figure that if I lose money on a stock, I'm left with nothing. If my knife doesn't turn out to be a great investment, at least I have a beautiful knife.

geez, my most spendy knife was a Benchmade Emerson CQC7 for $115.

Next it will be a Busse Steel Heart II E model!

Do it right,or not at all.

Well let's just say I sold a knife for $10,000. Forget about how much I paid for it

And I am sure you are wondering what knife commanded such a price.

Gil Hibben made 1 automatic. The Auto Shark. It was really cool!

Hey Gus! I may be working my way into the deep end, but compared to Dave and Mike (and way lots of others), I've only got my big toe dipped!

Please keep in mind that I have been collecting for a number of years, I am a knifemaker and most of all I have a "real" job that helps support my knife habit.

P.S. Will be in Atlanta row4p ABS section. hope to see you all there.

So how many here have walked around in public (repeatedly) with a *pair* of SN:1 pieces?

I paid a little over $300 for my Battle Mistress and Project I. I am hoping to get a Sebenza and the Busse folder in the future,so that figure may increase.
