Hey everyone i just purchased and should receive a Maxace Cicada on Tuesday from Whitemountain knives on ebay

It has a 3.74" satin M390 blade and rides on multi row caged ceramic bearings and detent ball, also has an over travel stop along with steel lock bar insert.

Iv'e been wanting to add a modified wharncliffe/sheepsfoot blade to the collection.

Anyone have any experience with this model as iv'e not been able to locate much info on youtube or elsewhere?

Got a smokin' deal and was just curious as iv'e seen pretty much complimentary reviews about other models from this manufacturer.

I just picked up a Reate Wave and absolutely LOVE it so i thought i'd give these guy's a chance.

Best,

The Cicada is new and not available from all the major sellers so it's no surprise reviews are scarce. As for myself, I was in a dilemma over the Cicada or the similarly new Halictus ("bee") and in the end opted for the gold/bronze version of the latter (which might arrive the day before Thanksgiving). I've purchased five previous Maxace knives over the last year or so and have not been disappointed. Odds are you'll be well served by yours. Enjoy!

Thanks for the info. Glad to hear you have had good experiences with them.

Good to see (on another thread) you're happy with your Cicada. My gold/bronze Halictus just arrived today and looks beautiful and flips wonderfully. I think Maxace could give the vaunted Reate a good run for their money if they were so inclined.

I'm glad your happy, can't wait for my Corvus to arrive!

I know both models are similar, the main reason I went with the Corvus is I much prefer a satin blade as opposed to stonewash.

My cicada has no inner milling therefore comes in at about 5.4 oz's while the Corvus has inner milling and comes in at about 4.3 oz's.

I usually don't carry anything much over 4 oz's but love the knife so much it doesn't even matter to me.
