Maxamet PM2, Para 3, Values??

Spyderco's most-difficult-to-manufacture blade with their softest, most feminine color. It may be one of a kind. I like it!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Feminine...difficult to handle...it just makes sense.

:DJoking aside, Ive bought two Maxament pm3's on the exchange $185-$190 both brand new. Only bought one for the lynch clip, realized i didn't like it and resold it.

Posted the other one for 200 and no one touched it for a few days until price dropped to 190 and it sold within a few hours, with fees/shipping got 180ish out of it.

Id say brand new you'd expect 185-195 depending how rare the steel is at the time.

As far as the pm2, im just waiting for the production run to kick up, but Personally Id pick one up for 215 at the most.

AH, welcome to BFC! Knives win every day over booze and gambling! You definitely made the right decision there. I also appreciate that you are new here and yet are still willing to ask questions. IMO knives make a very poor investment, but understand that some would disagree with that statement. I also think a knife hidden in my pocket is better than a knife hidden in some drawer. Again, an opinion. If you do end up selling your PM2 in Maxamet, just pick a price that makes you happy and give it a go. It will either sell or it won't. If it sells in mere seconds, don't think, "Well, crap, I should have asked for more!". And if it does not sell, don't think, "Gawd, stingy people want everything for free and now I'm going to lose money!" That's a no-win way of thinking.

Like you, I have a Maxamet PM2, Para 3, and Manix 2. The PM2 is my favorite Spyderco knife and the Maxamet blade gets used all the time, but I have 5 or 6 other PM2s, all in different steels, that also get used. Carrying them, using them, and having a choice all make me happy as a pig in sh*t! And THAT is what it is about. Doing what makes YOU happy without hurting others may be the best you can do.

So, because my dealer had these in stock and I bought one, you understand the disdain I am getting because..... you didn't get one?

Thank you for your contribution to this: "Long involved thread."

I am only starting the obvious here.
Even though you are a gold member and allowed to ask values if you are not of the good ole boy club you will catch flack for asking how much a no longer available knife is worth if anyone even senses you are a “flipper”.

I personally don’t care what anyone sells a knife for but it is nice to see what they are selling for at any given time and you can’t do this with this Forum now because the bulk of sellers delete the asking price.

Again I meant no insult to you, my problem is with this forum policy or norm whatever you want to call it.

I know that I absolutely love my Manix Maxamet! On and off use for close to two years now and it's proved to be an excellent specimen of a steel!

I'd like to see Maxamet in a kitchen blade -- it might stand up to my wife's serial knife abuse (50 years married next year, and no, there is no cure) and relieve me from sharpening chores.

Congrats, Ed. I thought I was one of the long ones with 31 years this Wednesday. Looks like I have a long row to hoe.

I'd just like to get my hands on something, (Para 2, Manix 2, Military) in Maxamet to test out for EDC but I just don't care for the LW Manix 2 enough to invest in one. Maybe something will come up. Until then, S110V will fill the bill.

43 years here. Our Solution to the kitchen wife/knife issue is to have a set of Wusthof Classic that can go into the dishwasher on the counter for all the time use. Then one very nice stainless Japanese chef's knife (Kohetsu PS60 santoku with western mahogany handle) for Princess that I keep nice and sharp for chopping. And then, my kitchen knifes up high on a shelf where I can use them and then clean them and put them away on my own. Everyone is happy all the way around.

I had a lovely Para3 in Maxamet, but was concerned about using it. So, sold it last week here for $210 plus shipping.

Just remember the old saying, "A Happy Wife is a Happy Life". Keep on sharpening and enjoying those great meals she cooks for you.

True, a happy wife is a happy life. That is why I keep cooking delicious meals for her.

Women like to say that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Sometimes it works the other way around. ;)

We are 18 years and going strong.

I paid 230 for my para 3 maxamet. I know I overpayed but they weren't coming up very often on the forums. Literally 2 days before I missed one on here for 140. Go figure. But at the time I that's what I was willing to pay. So once again like many said sometimes THAT guy sees your ad and will pay whatever he has to to get it. And also I hear in Canada some of these sprints go 300 bucks easy. Which is kinda crazy.

With our dollar being so low (about 75¢ on the US dollar), there's already an inflation in price, not to mention a lot of modern folding knives jumped in price here after the changes internally at the CBSA early this year due to supply issues/concern over supply issues. And on top of all that, sometimes people are trying to recoup their money or make a profit. So yes, sprints and limited editions can be pricey and fetch a pretty penny up here, at least in my limited experience.
