Hello everyone! I've been lurking on the forums for a while but finally decided to post something haha. So I'm holding out on buying a PM2 until the maxamet version comes out. I was just curious if anyone knew a tentative timetable on when it will be released? I know that Spyderco doesn't give official release dates, but i was just wondering. Or should I just buy a PM2 in S30V in the meantime if it's going to be a while? Thanks!

You can always preorder it, that's what I did, so I don't have to worry about missing that it came out when it comes out.

I'd love to do that, but being a 20 year old college kid, I don't like having my money tied up in something that I'm not sure when it will arrive.

I had one pre-ordered, but I decided that the military was more my size and cancelled my order. So that's always an option for you as well.

I'm going to guess it will be out after August. but don't quote me on that.

When the Para2 with the M4 and natural scales (which I really like) sold out in a heart beat I went with the Military to get the same materials. I like the Military but every time I put it away and come back to it I realize what a ginormous size knife it is in the public eye. Makes me still want a Para 2 in M4. Some day but at $200 plus for used / resold . . . ahhhhhh . . .

I'm just saying a full size Military might attract more attention than you want as a student.

PS: in use though the Military is just the ticket. As in "OhYahBaby!".

Should be out later this year. It's not a sprint run so you can't miss it.

Most pre orders don't charge the full amount until the item ships. Basically a deposit. That being said I never pre order knives, just stay on top of when they drop and pounce on one once they do. But like AF AF already said, this is not a sprint and is regular production. If you want one, you will get one :)

I've unintentionally turned a crowd by opening a kershaw leek! I wouldn't open either one in public, but my favorite is also the military, which Always knocks the pm2 outta my pocket regardless of statute--except in a school, court, federal building, airplane, et al

If this crowd can't handle a leek. You might as well say screw it and bust out a 8 inch Bowie as your EDC. I'll carry a para 2 or Millie as an EDC, but I am very discreet when I need to use it. If that's still too much for the people around me, well that's their problem.

I'm super excited for this one. Kinda worried about maxamet chipping, even though I've read that it really isn't a huge issue.

wouldnt worry about it. if it chips and you cant sharpen it without more chipping, send it back to spyderco and they will re-sharpen it or fix it some how.

I own the Millie and the PM2 and a Manix. I prefer the Millie and the Manix to the PM2. However, I have larger hands.

Their G10 color choice may be my favorite out of all their PM2 Sprints(except for maybe the orange and black CTS-XHP one). This might end up being one I'll be picking up. Maxamet sounds like it could be fun, haha.

I have moved on from the Para2. I prefer the Military and will be waiting for the Maxamet Military. Most of my Para2s just collect dust.

As far as size goes I apply the old saying, "Those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." I carry a Military all the time and nobody ever seems to care.

Anyone know of a place that has the maxamet PM2 available for pre-order AND takes PayPal? I want to order but don't need another knife showing up on the credit card for the home budget committee to discover... :D

I'm with ya there! :D

Same here. I have my 204P Military on me constantly. And I use it all the time. No strange looks from anyone.

And so what if someone does give pause upon seeing a Military in use. I hate non-knife people anyway.
