Maximum overall closed length?

For me closed length isn't the limiting factor. I'll carry anything that fits in my pocket. The biggest knife I've EDC'd is a Buck 110, in my front pocket and that was perfectly comfortable.

But once a knife gets longer than about a 3 inch blade it starts to feel a bit clumsy, and beyond 4 inches is just too long and awkward.

I edc'd a Leatherman Wave before I got into traditionals so just about anything you'd see on the porch feels small and light in comparison.
 
3-3/4”- 4” (Stockman or jack) fits my jeans watch pockets very comfortably. In slacks I have a slip that keeps ‘em upright. I have some jeans that will accommodate a 4-1/4” Stockman in the watch pocket, but not comfortably.
