I posted this in WS&S, but I thought folks here might appreciate this pack too. Got this pack about a month a go and I'm really liking it. With the age of my kids, I'm primarily a day hiker these days. I find this pack is just the right size for my gear and still has a extra room for snacks, extra clothes, camera, etc....

Where did you get those little blue cards with the different tracks on them?

Cool setup BTW:thumbup:

very nice pack and setup, I really need to get to work on one myself!

Thanks. I've gone through a bunch of packs over the last couple of years, this is the best I used so far for my needs.

DH1 - I got them at a Mass. State Park, but they are made by www.nothwoodsguides.com. I have a track set and a tree set. I use them when we are teaching our scouts about tracks and scat. There are also First Aids cards too...

how do you like the saw? was thinking about picking one up but wanted to hold it first to see how it was built.

I've had several of them over the years and I like them a lot. They are very light and cut pretty efficiently. You really can't wrong for the money, IMHO.

I had one of the gerber folding saws growing up looking to find a new one and all I found was the out the front model. Didn't know if I could stand up like the folder did. Had a fiskers saw that cut both ways and broke the damn thing in half pushing it

I buy the Gerber models made in Finland (by Fiskars I assume). I haven't broken one, but I'm careful with them, the blades are thin... I used one quite a bit this summer and had no problems. I've heard a lot of good things about Silky saws, but they are spendier than the Gerbers. For a PSK, a Pocket Chainsaw might be a good choice too, I have one , but honestly haven't used it much other than testing it a little.

I agree that its a pretty nice pack. I like that it is easy to increase the capcity by adding bottle holders and other little pouches for cameras, phones, compasses, FAKs, etc. And of course its easy to attach a knife if you want.

I'm trying to figure out what the "V" shaped straps and buckle are for on the back of that pack...what is it for?

Nice looking kit. I love the Maxpedition bags and pouches. I recently added a Falcon II to my collection which I picked-up from the BF exchange; it's smaller than the Condor II, but really well designed and should be good for day hikes. If you don't yet have a rollypolly (I like the mini and medium sizes) I highly recommend them.

I am very interested to see the pack that RAT will soon be launching.

those are compression straps to tighten up and condense the load. nice well thought out kit.

Thanks. It could also be used to hold a poncho or gear in place with a little thought..

I'll look into the rollypollys, I'm a big Maxpedition fan. I'll be watching for the RAT pack too! Thanks.

What's the red and white thing on the right shoulder strap? Very nice pack and kit!

Darkwaters - the folding Gerber saw I have is this one and it is a GREAT saw for the money. Can't beat it IMO.

It a whistle/flashlight/strobe. You can pick them up at Staples and Home Depot. Pretty bright, 200 hours of use according to the manufacturer and cost $5. Great little piece of kit.
