Hey Im thinking of getting a maxpedition falcon II and im wondering if anyone has one. Im thinking of using it as a overnight pack and a hunting pack. Also, if you do it would be cool if you could post pics of how you have it all set up and what can all fit into this pack, since pics seem to help illustrate its potential the best for me. thanks

I have one, but don't have a real setup done for it yet since I don't use it as my primary bag. I plan on modding it out pretty soon though. :D

It's an AWESOME bag, though. Here's a link to a page with a good review and pics: Click Oh, and The Monkey himself is a real cool dude, but VERY short, so take that into account when looking at the pics.

Here's a recent review with pics that I did on a Pygmy Falcon, pretty much the same thing as the PFII with less tie downs in the front.

I really enjoy the pack and could probably do an overnighter with it in warm weather. It would be pushing it in cold weather as space is pretty limited. It's a GREAT pack, comfortable and easy to pack/unpack then repack out and about.

*** Edit *** I just noticed you were talking about the Falcon and not the PF, my bad.

Heres mine. Setup as an overnighter+ bag. Its a great pack. A touch bigger than the pygmy, with a waistbelt. I added a couple 10x4 bottle holders to the sides, carries wonderfully. I also replaced all the zipper pulls with orange cord to make them easier to spot on the monochromatic foliage green..

Hey, J...how do you like the bottle holders on there? Does the pack still ride well or does it seem significantly "bulked up"? I've been thinking of doing the same thing to mine, but I have some other ideas, too.

What do you put in the waterbottle holders? Just bottles, becuause that looks bulky for just waters.

One holder has a bpa free nalgene in it, with a few other small items in the pouch, and the other has a guyot/gsi combo, with my fire kit in the pouch, along with some other small items. It rides very well. the extra weight and width isnt noticed, because the pack is narrow to begin with. I had only one bottle holder for awhile on it, but it felt out of ballance weight wise. I added another, and it now rocks!! I keep my bivy shelter in a cordura stuff sack on the bottom, and my woobie in the main compartment. The top small pocket has my FAK, a israeli bandage, and an AMK heatsheet. The bottom one has glowsticks, my survival kit, and a dry box wit extra batteries. My zebralight headlamp and RA twisty flashlight are also in there....

The main compartment has the woobie and plenty of room for extra clothes, and the middle is empty, and will hold two MREs with ease. Its my food pocket.

I have an M2 waistpack also that holds my camera and gear. I put it on the waistbelt. I also have a cocoon pouch with paracord. Im still working out where that will go. For me, its super comfy, and I love the way its set up. Gonna be a great overnight pack. Keep in mind, thats what this ones sole function is, overnighters+. My dayhike bag is my Timbuk2.

In the rear zipper pouch for the hydration bladder, my 1911 fits perfectly, and I can reach it unzip, and draw it very easily, and it remains totally out of sight. With the padding on the back it doesnt even "print". If you didnt know the pack, it would be very hard to even find it if you didnt know what you were looking for. Thats handy for places I dont wanna wear my holster.

This is a great pack. Ive owned alot of them, and I think its hard to beat this one because they are so versitle and you an set them up to suit your needs very easily.

I did a review earlier, here is the thread. It's a great daypack/overnighter pack, best one I own so far!

FortyTwoBlades, you can use min-rollypoly's to cut down on the profile too, if you wish. I use one on each side of my Falcon-II.

Thanks for the heads up, rk! I already knew about the mini's though. I popped one on my lady's Lunada. :) I was mostly curious about how the bottle holders themselves were. I could see a jacket or a carefully folded sheet of some kind being put in the non-water bottle side.

Gotcha  I might want to get a second bottle holder down the line too, to give Jake's set up a try :) I'm also thinking it'd be good for a cook set, or one of those AMK thermolite bivys, liner, and tarp or other stuff.

The Falcon II is my favorite medium-sized hunting pack and one of my favorite pieces of outdoor gear. Get one... you won't regret it! :)

I really like this pack. It will hold all you need for a warm weather overnighter or even a couple of days.
