Maxpedition Falcon II

Love my Falcon II in OD, it see's alot of time in the Cohutta Wilderness. Add a ESEE Knife and you have a good start.

Also that the falcon II can condense to roughly the same size as the pygmy but i have the ability to carry tarps, blankets, tents, sleeping bag etc. with the straps on the bottom or side or the top compression and I like the different options to have a "kinda" bigger bag with camping stuff or have a nice small pack.

I have the Pygmy Falcon, but I recently picked up the Falcon II for many of the same reasons.

And probably the same reason we have so many people that hang out here. We're sort of laid back. Talking about knives is about 50 percent of what we do, the rest is skills, hard use gear, Tequila, crazy women and sometimes blow-up sheep.

I say if it gets posted on this forum then it's usually for a reason. If they start moving outdoor gear threads that are posted here and participated on by all of us who use ESEE products, then I don't see that working. Most knife companies are just that: knife companies. We're not just a knife company. ESEE and Randall's Adventure & Training encompasses so much more than knives, so if they start moving everything but ESEE knives posts then we might as well shut this forum down because a lot of our posts here are training and outdoor related which is what Randall's Adventure & Training does.

I made the same argument in the Becker forum. Many valued efforts are starting to build a good community over there, but it's not always just about the knives.

As for blow-up sheep, however, that must be an ESEE thing. :p

If you mean shaved sheep stuck in the fence then I'm down......

Or maybe it's a Utah thing. :D

Getting back on topic, I do have a question Flexxx: why would you want a patch on your bag that reads "hey **** face" Maybe it's a fad thing but I honestly don't get why someone would want that on their pack.

I get it, but only because I'm around an environment where folks love to wear North Face gear, but many, if not most, of them have never set foot on a trail, let alone experienced more primitive wilderness.

In regards to the Falcon II, does it serve as a basic weekend pack well? Or is it too small?

I think a minimalist could easily do two days, but it's really not that big of a pack, so anything more could be pushing it. I bought mine to do quick overnight trips in the summer. Just ordered a dedicated camping hammock to go in it.

Do you have a link for that hammock? Mine is a curious nature.

That Falcon II looks great, really like the blue.
I was up in the air a year or so ago about whether to get the Falcon II, or the Condor II, and decided on the Condor II.
Been pretty happy with it so far, seems quite a bit more rugged than other bags I've had.
Maxpedition gear definitely get the thumbs up from me.

HMMmm, I wonder if I pick up one of those in blue (the wife's favorite color) and she for some reason decides that she doesn't like it, I can adopt it..... I'm such a gear slut.... (bows head in shame)

As for the hammock I'm not sure what kind of Guyon is talking about but I'm about to pull the trigger on the ENO either single or double to use camping and on an upcoming motorcycle trip from Canada to Texas

I own both a Vulture II and a Versipack Jumbo... Both are built like my ESEE... Tough, well designed and fully functional... I use my Versipack as my GHB I keep in my truck while the Vulture II is more a everything SHTF/backwoods pack... The quality of both is exemplary...

i've been looking at these bags too. if anyone has one and a junglas they can strap to the side for a quick picture, i'd love to see that. i'll probably wait for the new junglas pack, but I really like the look of these too.

That's a nice pack. The blue looks great. I love Maxpedition stuff. It is always amazing how much stuff they hold and great quality. I have the Kodiak and the Jumbo EDC. I really like the way you can add stuff like the various pocketsto them. The ESEE 4 looks sharp riding on the Falcon II. Enjoy.

Very nice, the Vultrue II it bigger then I thought....

Excellent
Thanks.. It is big, I think the spec is 2810 CI... It is one impressive ruck... I wish I'd had it when I was on active duty... I'm not going to carry my ESEE-6 on my ruck but on my belt but I wanted to show how big the side of the ruck is... I think a Junglas would be a great fit on it...

Never mind figured it out.

:D

Now back to our regular programming.

Question, the unpadded-hip straps on the falcon II, are they uncomfortable for extended wear (1-2 near-full days)? I noticed the 33% bigger condor II has padded hip straps so I was curious.

Thanks Sarge. If anyone's interested, Maxpedition has factory seconds in black posted on their site for $45 less than the premium Falcon IIs.

I can't find the FS over at the Maxpedition site. Also their search function doesn't work. Do you have a link?

I like Maxpedition gear. I have several pieces of it. My versipack is an edc, and I frequently hear "what is it?" and "Where can I get one?" I like that pack (the Falcon II) and not just for the color, which is awesome. But, while their gear is a great value, I cannot always afford it. When I saw this: for thirty bux I decided to give it a try. I know the danger of spending on something that does not work out and having to spend again. But this looks like it might work out.
Forgive the crappy pics, it's not the cameras fault.:o
