you guys have good experiences with maxpedition packs?? they look cool, I was thinking of picking one up for a hiking/hunting bag. one of the models with hydration capabilities. i like all the molle atachment points too. any reviews are much appreciated - note I know this thread is not directly related to RAT products, but I figured the folks here might have some info.

I love my maxpedition versipack and spartan wallet, they are built to take a beating. Hold on and I'll try to find a pic with them and a RAT ;).

I'm kind of in a pinch for time so I wont be able to give you a quick review, but if you have any questions feel free to ask I'll hop on here later tonight.

I have a jumbo that I used for a few years as a carry bag for my XD45, spare mag, knife, leatherman, diaperbag, survival kit ect. Great bag. Just this year I updated the GHBs in the car with CondorIIs and a pair of bottle pockets. RC5 is in mine. The girl has a Coldsteel GI tanto.

The Condor II is a really nice larger daypack and the Pygmy Falcon is a really handy smaller daypack. Both will handle a reservoir, although the PF also has two exterior bottle holders. I tend to prefer actual daypacks, because I am on the extreme end of the boy scout "be prepared" motto. (For example, I have a hat and gloves along even in July).

But if you like a smaller over the shoulder rig, the Jumbo Versipack is really handy and the Bottle holder with a strap is an even more compact route to go. These are the four things I use and they all are handy and accept various other pockets and attachments.

Since your in the RC forum let me add that it is very convenient to mount an RC3 or an RC4 on Maxpedition products using the Molle locks.

Unbelievable. I have the remora for travel (great if you have a long day but still want to keep some stuff on you) and the pygmy falcon for day hiking, and am looking for more.

I have the PF II and really like it,really comfortable and fit's well and I'm 6'5" and 210#. I also have the Proteus fanny pack which works for me but I wish I would have bought a slightly bigger one. But I don't regret buying either one, very tough and well worth the money spent, just like a RAT.

I have a Falcon II and it is one tank of a daypack; I'd say the best bombproof pack in its price range. Very tough and excellent quality pack, definitely worth the money. The Falcon-II is relatively heavy though (not really a big deal for me), and it doesn't carry weight as well as other more ergonomic packs (bigger deal for me). I'm actually switching over to an Osprey pack for hiking, and looking to get a larger Maxpedition for a dedicated BOB. I did a review of my Falcon II here if you wanna take a look.

Overall, really great products. I have the Falcon II, had a proteus, have both the 12x5 and 10x4 bottle carrier and bunch of other pouches and stuff. All of them are incredibly durable, well designed, and well constructed .

I love the Falcon-II, but I'd have to say that my favorite maxped product has to be the bottle holders.

I have the Malaga Gearslinger, the Falcon II, and the Multi-Purpose Bag (MPB). My lady has the Lunada Gearslinger. I have them fully decked out with pouches, and they work great. The Malaga is my EDC bag.

Here's my RC-3 on the strap of my Malaga.

I'll add my promo as well. I've owned a Jumbo Versipack, Pygmy Falcon II, Kodiak Gearslinger, Colossus Versipack, 10x4 Bottle Holder, and various other pouches. I've loved each of them, and even though I've since traded a couple they were hard to let go of. Currently the 10x4 with a Coccoon and Roly-Poly is my day hiking kit (Izula attached to the side) and the Colossus is my everyday bag for work and grad school. Both are fantastic.

42-B, what kind of feline pouch is that? Does that thing hold Happy Cat or Whiskas? :D

I have a Spartan wallet right now that I am rather fond of. Didn't much care for the Rat wallet they had but I gave that to one of my son's friends as a going away present and he loves it because he can stuff his cellphone and other stuff in it and wear it on his belt.

I have had a PFII that I have been using for a few years now, it's an excellent pack. I've been using an original Fatboy, my wife and I both have, for about five years now. I stepped up to the JUMBO, didn't like that and went back to the original Fatboy.

Got a Malaga Gearslinger a little while ago, it's quite the awesome rig actually. I have two Tactical Tailor E&E Pouches on it, one horizontal (mounted on the back pocket) and one vertical (mounted on the side) and have a Maxpedition M-1 Waistpack on the other side of it.

Don's Jumbo now resides with me.

It's my range bag, I keep it loaded with my holster, mags, ammo, flashlight and a knife. The built in holster thing works great and if i need my gun and all it's fodder quickly it's all together and ready to go.

Maxped gear is really well built and well designed.

I love maxpedition gear ,one warning, can be addictive...I own pygmy falcon II,Devil Dog,M5,M1,nalgene holder, single & a dual knife holder ...looking to pick up a few more items as well

Maxpedition= :thumbup:

Good stuff! I carry a Jumbo Versipack every day, and enjoy it. I keep my RC-4 in the "concealed carry" pocket, so I don't have to dig for it, and can get to it easily. Maxpedition gear is well thought-out, well constructed, and tough. Looks cool, too!

Maxpedition bags are great for guys who like to carry stuff around, but don't want to be accused of carrying a "murse" or a "phag bag". I call mine my "tactical diaper bag"- I can carry diapers and wipes and such without feeling too emasculated.

Feline pouch? What feline pouch? That's my bear trap! Titus likes lying down on his back looking like he wants rubs, but woe be the one who tries to give him any! He's a little devil, but I wouldn't want him any other way. :D

There's two things I don't like about Maxped:
- They are made in Taiwan
- They no longer use Cordura, but ballistic nylon

Things I do like:
- They are tough as hell
- They are very expandable with the PALS webbing
- They are well thought out for what usually goes in them
- They are very organizational oriented, meaning there's a pocket or strap for everything. This is good and bad. Good if you use them for everyday carry, or for carrying relatively few things, because you don't have to go searching for stuff, it's held right there. It's bad if you carry relatively large things, or things just a bit too big for the individual pockets, as those pockets are then not used, and are just added weight (if you're like me, you'll never cut out an unused pocket, because that would GUARANTEE that you'll find something 2 minutes later that ABSOLUTELY REQUIRES that pocket. :) )

If I end up with an empty pocket, it means that I must buy more gear. ;)

I really dig my Maxpedition stuff. One of my favorites, always within arm's reach in my truck, is my 10 x 4 water bottle carrier. It contains basic survival and first aid gear in case I need to bail out and run and don't have time to grab its big brother from the trunk (I could easily live for a few days out of that one).
