maxpedition packs

I just picked up a gearslinger from Lapolicegear.com at a sick price, I have a spec ops 3 day pack but wanted something smaller for day hikes and this is really nice.

I have a typhoon I use as a ARES/CERT grab and go bag, I like it a lot. I was surprised when I first got it at how stiff the material was, and how rugged. Anyways it is packed and ready to go at all times, and so far it is the best bag I have found for the job. :)

Will post pics if I get the chance

way off subject of RAT here, but since it's a MAXPD thread... Can anyone explain the method of attachment of the MAXPD pouches? I think MAXPD calls them tietacks or something, and they apparently don't come included with the items as I just got the FR1 Medic Pouch and the Rollypoly MEGA and they definately do NOT have the MOLLE straps made into them like I'm accustomed to with my other pouches.

Nice pouches to be sure, but it sort of pisses a guy off to pay high end prices for high end goods only to discover that they DON'T come with the attachment accessories. (and the item description didn't bother to mention it either.)

Thanks :(

I have too many maxpedition products to list, which should be an indication that I really like their products for predominantly urban or semi-urban enviroments. I do think if you are looking for a very capable backpack that is really comfortable, get an Osprey or Gregory. The Condor and similar are pretty heavy and supportive enough for long treks in the woods, comparable to a serious backpacker's backpack such as Osprey or Gregory. Probably about the same price range too.

I love my maxpedition products but for an excellent day bag for hunting and the like im growing very fond of my TT enhanced day pack : http://www.tacticaltailor.com/enhanceddaypack.aspx

It is going to be my college bag when i leave the army. Its tough enough to be used on hikes with a pouch to hold my water, I always have a water bottle with me so i lov ethis, its got a padded compartment in the back for nice things or a laptop or just extra storage.

1000D cordura construction right here in america from a great company.

Either way you cant go wrong i own the the Falcon II pack and the Monsoon gear slinger both are great i used the monsoon alot before i got my enhanced day pack.

I've been toting a Jumbo Versipack for serveral months now and love it as an EDC. I've got twins still in diapers and I actually use as a manly Dad bag from time to time. The water bottle holder contains 2 8oz sippy cups with ease. I've got plenty of room for first aid, torch, leatherman wave, misc. gadgets and emergency supplies and epi pens for those damned peanut allergies (because of a constant need to carry epi pens this bag will always travel with me and the kids).

An added benefit of the Jumbo is that it can double as a CCW rig and holds my standard XD 9mm with ease.

I don't like surprises either. In the past when I have been surprised, I had black wire ties on hand because I always used ALICE packs and pouches in the past and despise ALICE clips. When I got fenagled out of MALICE things, I used wire ties, which I still keep on hand in case of MALICE breakage, which has never happened, plus for quickly put together lean-to shelters, etc.

On a different note, when you purchase a pouch from Tactical Tailor, it has the MALICE clips in the bag. That's as far as I know anyway, happened twice to me! :D

I do like Maxpedition pouches but I preferred the type of attachment they had about five years ago which was stitched on MOLLE snap & strap right on the back of the pouch. I still have a khaki M1 Waistpack with those on it.

I liked that type of attachment too; pretty much like the MOLLE plate for the RC3/4. Spec Ops still uses that on their pouches I believe.

Spec Ops does. I have several of their pouch accessories and have no complaint with them. Good Sturdy Well Designed. Just not so much on the bells and whistles as the MAXPD stuff perhaps. Spec Ops gear has the MOLLE straps nicely sewn into the design. Which was reason for my surprise with the MaxPD stuff. Figured MAXPD is suppose to be the sh!t from all reviews, it outta come with the necessary attachment do-hickys. To me, charge me the extra $5 bucks in the price and include them in the item I bought. Rather than open the bag and have no way to use it unless you read the fine print before ordering. I like simple. Sort of why RAT appeals to me so much. You see it, you get it, and it's exactly what you imagined it was from the picture. -Only sharper.

Guess I'll have to go and pick me up a few tackties as I truely hat ALICE clips. They work in a pinch, but are not my long term go to. I keep a couple in my bag for a -just in case scenario, but they just "jiggle" too much for a permanent attachment method IMO.

Thanks for the heads up and the link to the solution for the MAXPD.

I may be in the minority, but I like the MALICE (not ALICE) clips better than the Tac Ties. They're easier to thread, and lay flatter.

Maxpedition makes GREAT gear!

My EDC work briefcase is the Tactical Attache' and my RC-3 lives on my Jumbo Versa-Pak :D Both in foliage green.

Malice Clips do lie a little more flat, but the Tac-Ties are awesome in terms of ease of use, and they don't have as much sticking out the bottom as the Malice Clips. :)

The Tac Ties are much nicer if you're wearing something on a belt, as well.

To be honest, it does piss me off a bit that places sell PALS compatible stuff without a friggin strap. However, I can kind of see it given that there's so many way to attach these things, and so many combinations, you'd either have to have MOLLE straps at every channel of PALS -- most of them unused -- or a separate attachment device. So I kind of understand why they went the way they did, although they should include an appropriate number of Tac Ties or MALICE clips with each pouch to at least be able to use it.
