I'm thinking about asking the wife for a pack for christmas. And, I like the looks of the pygmy falcon II, but I want some feedback from the guys I trust on the subject... so, do any of you guys have one? And, do you like it? Any downsides to it? Thanks, guys! :D

Got one recently, same time as my Vulture II. The PFII is a terrific small sack.

I've done a few walks with it so far, maybe 30 miles total over the hills, and I generally forget I'm wearing it.

It holds enough for a day, with a Guyot bottle in one side pocket and a flask of coffee in the other. I strap my coat on the top (and my wife's!) when it gets warm and it's still comfortable.

Seriously, it's a terrific sack.

As a bonus, it rides high enough (just, for me, I'm a shorty, better if you're taller) that you can have things on your belt below it or even wear a waist pack. I tried it with my Sabercat and it just fit.

The wide opening main compartment is really easy to use compared to the top-openers I'm more used to (alpine sacks) and the front pocket holds a few knives, maps and chocolate bars!

There is a thread over on the Rat Cutlery forum on this pack

I have 2 if that tells you anything. I use one as an edc and the other is my "woods" bag. Construction is top notch in the price range and the bottle holders are a huge bonus. The only potential problem with the Pygmy is it's size. It's absolutely perfect for everything that I use it for but it is not a very big pack. If you are looking for something for edc it's great. If you are looking for something to use as a day pack with enough room left over for an unexpected night in the woods - its great. If you are looking for something for 3 days worth of supplies - its not big enough.

It's an excellent day pack or perhaps even an overnighter if you are going to sleep in milder weather with one of the poncho rigs you can see in a thread from the other day on here...poncho of your choice and a USGI poncho liner...

Love mine. The Triad Admin Pouch fit's perfectly on the back and gives you some extra pouches as well. Here's a couple pics.

Damn, Tony. That sealed the deal for me. That'll be on the Christmas list, for sure. Damn shame that by the time Christmas rolls around, it'll be so cold I wont want to go out for much more than a short romp. :o

:D your welcome...Plus the Bag is perfect for a short romp in the woods as well ;)

great pack, comfortable and big enough too fit the 10 essentials in and more. Easily big enough for an overnighter in mild weather.

Man, looks like everybody has one... guess I'm johnny-come-lately to this deal. Well, thanks for all the positive reviews... not a bad word about them, and that says a lot.

I've tried a lot of bags and the PF II has been the best utility fit for me. I added a small County Comm pocket organizer to keep pens, notebook and flashlight available without opening up any pockets. For a non tactical look, I like the Kelty Redtail 1800. A good pack with lot's of similiarities plus the outside mesh pockets.
