A few of you have said you owned the Sabrecat.

Does anyone have pictures of it loaded up?
I was looking at them, but they are pricey, and I'd hate to drop the coin on something that may be the wrong size, so if ya have any pics, or at least an equipment list. Thinking of it as a 3-season bag in the northern(;)) Florida climate.

Do a youtube search. There is a great review on it there.

I don't have any pics but I can tell you I went through 5-6 buttbacks before I found the sabrecat. I now have 2. One I use for hiking and the other is in my truck as an emergency pack. Best buttpack I have found by far.

I got my latest of $106 on Keenzo.com

I am in the process of converting mine from winter mode to spring mode.
I'll try to get some pictures and/or an equipment list.
FWIIW I use mine with some shoulder straps. I like that it keeps the load on my hips and that my back is not covered in the warm weather.

Thanks Porcupine.

Last Youtube I could find was of the WildernessOutfittersArchery guy, and he just put some stuff in to "fluff it out".

Keep it coming guys.

The review from Wilderness Outfitters is what made me want one to begin with. I'm constantly perfecting mine. Right now my biggest problem is I don't have anything in the main compartment. I'll see about getting some pictures & stuff up later for what I currently have.

As for a shoulder harness, I've been kinda looking for something to use with mine. Sharp Eye what are you using?

I love that pack... and as mentioned, if your gonna put a heavy load get shoulder straps or rig something up, I find it tends to be a little harsh on the lower back

Here's some pics of mine, the quality of the pics arent that great I just took them with my cellphone.

There's still 2 pockets unused and still room in the main compartment.
The orange dry sac I hang from it contains food.

I'll be back later to edit and add more pics.

Edit: Geez I just had all the pics added and then the forum tells me I have too many photos and I didn't get a chance to copy what I had posted. I might redo it later. Took too darn long to do the first time.

If anyone wants I can post pictures of the contents too, just thought it would be easier to list them.

Also I know I'm missing things like cordage, cooking, and water storage, but thats next on the list for some things. I'm just not sure where to put the cordage so it's easily accessible and the rest I'm considering options.

Is the main compartment big enough to hold a GI poncho and liner? The damn liner takes up half the volume of my Wanderer daypack, it's about 3/4 the size of my sleeping bag as tight as I can roll it. For March-October here, a "ranger roll" (GI poncho and liner as a makeshift sleeping bag) is really all I need, and actual sleeping bag is overkill. If I want to take it, I have to move up to a larger pack, which is then half empty and a pain. I figure if I can get away with the sabrecat, that would make things easier to carry and keep from blocking my sweaty back in summer.

The main compartment according to Maxpedition is: 10” x 7” x 4”.

I don't own a GI Poncho or Liner, but I would imagine you would be able to attach it to the bottom somehow. Althought I would think at that point you would want to use a shoulder harness or use a smaller daypack possibly. Just my thoughts.

One other thing to consider. Something like the GI Poncho is not something you would want to store in the main compartment. Simply because a) It's something you want to get to quickly, & b) the main comparment is not that easy to get into.

I've put alot of thought into how I'm layering the Sabercat. Some things you'll need to get to quicker than others which is why I've set mine up the way I have.

My dayhike/survival gear minus shelter, can fit in a GI buttpack, with the canteen on one outside ALICE loop and a SAW pouch for food on the other. However, the poncho liner itself takes up pretty much the whole buttpack.

So I figure most of the sutff will fit with no problem in the other parts of the Sabercat, canteens can go on the PALS of the belt, and the poncho itself could be rolled and stowed under the vertical compression straps. I just don't know if 10 x 7 x 4 is enough to stuff the liner into.

I might just have to go back to a medium ALICE with the outer pockets mostly empty.
