I appreciate your advice guys, so don't hold back :)

I need a three day pack and was looking at the maxpedition vulture.

First of all, What do people generally like, dislike about maxpedition?
Second, What do you think of this particular pack?

Thanks

I really like my Maxpedition Jumbo Versipack, but I've found the larger packs to be a bit heavier because of the thick material used. They are indestructable, but weight is definitely an issue at times. I really don't think you can go wrong with the Vulture if you like the way it carries.

Mine is older style and has been used extensively and shows neither wear nor even dirt marks - something to do with all the coatings (teflon, DWR, etc). It is heavy, however.

Here's a few pics of mine - first with eberlestock gun scabbard and snowshoes - go Molle and the shoes straps are provided:

Then with hydration bladder - which works very well - better than my little camelback mule:

Hope this helps.

Love, Love, Love my Vulture II.

Keep in mind the waist strap does not carry the weight on your hips like a pack with an internal frame.

The waist strap is to keep the pack stable when you are moving quickly. It is designed for military use so the waist area is clear to allow for equipment belts to be worn.

The weight on this pack will be on your shoulders and back.

This pack lacks much internal organization, I use dry bags for my various kits anyway, so no big deal.

But it is loaded with features and can hold a bunch. And Molle galore!

I do like Maxpedition packs, seen a few over here (Vulture was one of these) even tho they're not as common in Europe as in the US; they are very solid and well built, and if u like the MOLLE galore, there's plenty of it.
A 3 day trip/hike can request different weights and spaces, depending on the kind of hike, season, possibility of water supplies, etc, so I won't discuss the size.
I think u could go for something lighter and with a better distribution of weight and carry, but we all have our priorities. Sure the Vulture looks like a very good product to me.
