I just used the dealer locater service from Camillus and here's my answer:

Dear Customer:

I am told this knife is not permitted in Canada.

Thank you

It was about the MAXX STILETTO.

Why do you think it'S illegal? How does this wonder open?

Is it double edged? I can't recall from pics I've seen.

If its not double edged then it is definitely legal to have here.

The only reason it would be illigal is if it could be flipped open. If it can be then it's considered a "gravity opening" knife under the Crim Code. Let a store do the import for you and take the risk of confiscation at the border.

Gravity opening...

I think anyone who ever bought a folding knife knows the only step between a manuel open and a gravity open is a screwdriver...

I have one of these cheapies

that can't open correctly if you don't work on the screws, but it makes it a "gravity" knife.

In my town, you can't carry a knife without a "professionnal" reason, but they don't care abour what you have at home. Except for what the federal government decided was illegal: switchblades and balis. Damn federals!
