Let me guess, the hood wasn't completely snapped shut and it flew off while you were driving at a ridiculously fast speed?:D

Bambi??!! NOOOOOOOOOOOO

sorry, my deepest condolences as i am a mustang fan and that car looks like it was loved

That's why hoods (front bonnets) on Mercedes's open from the other side.

one of my buds had a new supra turbo (back in '96) and was out with his girlfriend and had removed the top, after a long nite of partying, he took her home, went home himself, pulled in the garage, and layed the top on the supra without bolting it down, was too tired, figured he'd do it in the AM, he woke up and was running late to work, jumped in the supra, headed out to IH35, was getting on the highway and......................roof blew off lol, he looked in the rear view and a 18 wheeler ran over it to top it all off, it was a misty day and i saw him at work a few hours later, asked him "why the plastic on your supra" ??

IIRC the roof itself cost ~$2K after having to get it painted, new hardware, etc. an expensive goof, lol.

Looks like the hood wasn't latched down completely and blew off at speed.

The safety catch save my A$$ once on my car. When I was in high school, the hood latch was defective and the safety catch didn't. The hood didn't come off so, damage wasn't too severe.

if at all possable im gona make a "middle aged" bullitt mustang in the traditional highland green. if the whole cars gona be painted im gona have them paint the jams, trunk, nitrous bottle, engine, and change the subs to green ones. i want a VIS cobra r carbon fiber hood sprayed with a highland greenish clear coat.

it was mine, it actually did quite well in the car show circuit last year. ive been daily driving it and beating on it some so the paint was starting to show some nicks and such. i was planning on having some paint work done but it looks like i wont have to pay for it now.

REAL cars don't need NOS.

Most cars have it... including recent hemis.

The combustion of gasoline produces, among other things we call "exhaust gases", nitrous oxide. Yup, there's NOS going right out your tail pipe.

Just about all modern engines have a system called EGR, exhaust gas recirculation. This system allows a little bit of the exhaust gas to get back into the intake manifold. Most of what's in exhaust gas is utterly useless to the combustion process; so why would engine designers deliberately route exhaust gas back into the intake manifold? It's utterly counterintuitive! The answer is that they want that NOS.

Yes, just about every modern gasoline car engine has NOS.

I'm sorry to hear about the car- it looks like she was a real beauty before the hood. Ofcourse, there's no problem with classic mustangs either...:D

BTW- NOS is Nitrous Oxide Systems, not NO2 (nitrous di-oxide).

Goodluck with the car!

well hopefully the insurance co will send somebody to check out the car tommarow. there giving me the run around and im getting rather pissed off.

theres alot of bs mistakes that there making, if i feel like it ill post about it later but its getting late and i have to wake up early, again.
