MAYAN SACRIFICIAL DAGGER by JIM FERGUSON (TWISTED NICKEL DAMASCUS)

Years of collecting have led me down all sorts of paths. At one point I developed an interest in Mayan gold ritual objects, gold figurals, etc. Several years ago I found this Jim Ferguson dagger which lent itself perfectly to the theme of the collection so I bought it, even though it otherwise would not suit my tastes. As for Jim, he stopped making his signature TwistedNickel Damascus around 2007, when he more or less retired. Jim was a well-regarded maker, and a bit more about him can be found from the link below:

A year or so ago, I moved on with the Mayan gold collection and sold it off - leaving me with this dagger. It's obviously a specialty piece. And if you note the final image, an example from the Mayan collection, you will see why it was such a great fit.

Jim Ferguson is well-known for his NickelTwisted Damascus and the blade on this dagger is one heavy and wild piece of metal. It sure fits the bill for "Mayan". Bruce Shaw engraved a Mayan theme for Jim on the nickel silver collar and the handle (fossil/ancient walrus ivory) was finished off with some amazing Mayan figural work. Everything about the piece blends together.

The backside of the handle has one ancient crack. The handle carvings postdate the cracks by centuries if not millenia, so the crack IS stable, as in rock solid (remember, it's fossilized). And the handle itself has the very slightest curvature, and feels very natural to hold. Top quality materials, workmanship, fit, finish throughout. He/she who buys it gets a "48 hr no questions asked" return privilege - because if you like what you see, it only gets better once you hold it.

Made in early 1990's, mint condition, 6 1/8" blued nickel Damascus steel blade, 10 3/4" overall length.

$795 including shipping (CONUS), North/Central American buyers only. The Mayan gold figurals in the last image are, obviously, not part of this offering, only the knife is included. Will listen to offers, but don't expect much flexibility. Paypal is the approved form of payment, but if I know you I'll take your check.
First "I'll take it" gets it, if followed shortly thereafter with Paypal payment. I communicate only via Blade Forums private message system (the only method by which you can obtain my Paypal address), not by email or visitor message - so you must be able to use private messaging in order to discuss purchase.
