Maybe we should all have one in our kit !!!!

Hate to mention it, but rabbits are lagomorphs, not rodents. Other than that, rabbits are bigger, so it takes fewer to make a meal. You can substitute rabbit in any recipe that calls for chicken, so I don't know why you couldn't substitute rats; you'd just need more of them.

Simple yet effective.This is cool!
It requires careful observation of the animals that it's so much fun to set traps.

You can drill a few pilot holes just inside the bail of those rat traps and run drywall screws up from the bottom so they stick through about 1/4 in and increase the holding power many times just be sure to drill a hole in the back to wire it down

Another thing you could do is remove the wire mechanism from the wood plank. That way it's easier to carry more of them, and you can fashion more natural wood foundations in the wild, which might make them more effective. You could probably attach one of them directly to a tree to catch a squirrel.

I've never tried it but it might work. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who tries it.

2 things learned while catching rats:
a) tie the trap to something, do so with a wire
b) traps make fine alarms you can set up with trip wires, so you wake up before someone is standing next to you
