Mayo Knives Hires Rob Simonich!!!

Its true folks....got him working for about what it costs me to feed my cat...HOWEVER- due to the recent stock market plummet, he wont do anything but walk back and forth worrying about his major losses...if I had all that money I would be worried too....

Check it out at the top of my 'Pricing' page at my website!!! BTW..did you guys check out how much money Bill Gates lost on paper last friday!!!! Thats 11 BILLION dollars...I could probably live comfortably for the rest of my life on the interest that much money makes in one day.

Rob won't have to sell his `Benz, will he? He's grown mighty attached to that car. He swears that it's a great babe magnet!

Rome did not create a great empire by having meetings...they did it by killing all those who opposed them.

Luckily,Rob sold out in Oregon (in 6 hrs!!!!) so I guess he will make it thru the rest of the month before he makes the move to Hawaii....I will have to start moving the junk out of my basement so he can put his cot down there. :):):)

A day's interest at 10% would only be $3 million. I hear that won't even buy you a studio apartment in Hawaii.

I have dibs on the first "Mayo-nich"! In the meantime, I'll take a Talonite Cetan with curly koa scales, hold the Mayo

It's only a mistake if you fail to learn from it!

Actually guys, here is the real story. I was talking with Ken Onion at the Oregon Show and says, Ken, you look like you have been working too hard. Ken says, well besides my knives I am having a heck of a time making all of Tom Mayo's knives as well! So I says, I am putting in 16 hour days now but would be glad to help, and Ken says he will tell Tom when he gets home. So here I am getting ready to move to Hawaii to go work with Onion to make Mayo's knives, so blademan13, it should be "Give me a Cetan, hold the Onion and the Mayo!"

Not (gasp!) the basement! I've seen that thing at Tom's, not pretty, not pretty at all. View from the backyard is great and the shaved ice in Haleiwa might be worth it though

Ok Jerry, lets strike! I just heard about the basement from Hoss and we can use the working and living conditions ploy. What should we demand? I know you will want more bananas, maybe I will ask for Fancy Feast cat food instead of the mice in the basement!

Geesh Rob, your taste in food really sucks. How about demanding our daily ration of Pina Coladas and a more leisurely 60 hour work week.

Jezze Tom - do you hear them whining? They sound just like Bill Gates.

Ridley's first law of economics:

Nomatter how much you make - it's 20% less than you really need.

It applies to you, to me, to the monkey and to Bill Gates.

Please don't leave, Mr. Simonich. I, for one, would like the chance to ask advice from an accomplished knifemaker like yourself, in some sort of forum devoted to knifemaking.

samwereb, I enjoy these light hearted threads, it beats the hell out of the flame wars! I am glad to answer any question that I am able and qualified to, but there is nothing wrong with having some fun, life isnt all serious for me anyway, I would just mold if it was.

Sorry Mr. Simonich. I've just grown a little impatient with the butt-kissing in the SHOP TALK forum. I've seen this guy's work and am humbled by it. But, I also hope to improve my own and am often looking here for sources of materials and a nudge in the right direction for "how-to". I've lately had posts requesting advice go unanswered, while posts like this get dozens of replies.

You understand I am sure.

Having complained enough for one day, I think I will just return to my toil. It has been a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Good luck.

What's wrong with a bit of fun? Don't worry, I'm sure someone out there will come up with a source for textured G-10 for you!

Seriously, I've never had a request for help go unanswered in this forum, usually by the same guys who are posting in these silly threads, so what's the big deal?
