Mayo TNT question

Thumb holes work beautifully on Tom's knives because of the firm yet smooth action on his knives. I usually prefer tip down knives, but I'd be comfortable carrying Mayo tip up as I think they are very unlikely to open unintentionally, particulary thumb hole models. I'll second that - you won't be sorry with a Mayo

I haven't had much experience handling blades with thumb holes. I have a Spyderco Mannix, but have yet put it into my rotation. I usually carry a Bob Dozier Folding Hunter, Large Sebenza with Flat Grind Blade or a small Mayonaized Sebenza. All of these have thumb studs and work fine for me.

However, since we are on the subject of Tom Mayo, could anyone share some information on the type of locking system Tom uses for his folders, such as the TnT and also share your thoughts of the quality of this locking system in actual use? How secure is the locking system as compared to other knife makers?

Thanks,

David

I've owned several TNTs before, and I've carried a small one every day at work for about a half year now. The thumb hole opener in all of them works great.

I can't say that I prefer one over the other overall when it comes to holes, studs, and discs, though. I supposed it depends on the shapes of the holes as well as that of the studs or discs being compared. I will say that flipper openers, provided that they can fully open the knife without any wrist action, are my favorite opening mechanism.
