OK I've just about decided to pick up another small Sebbie and send it to Tom Mayo for a thorough "Mayonizing". My questions about this are: How much does it cost? What comes with Mr. Mayo's treatment besides swiss cheese scales and a very smooth action ? What do y'all who have had this done think of the final product? Can you post pics? Thanks in advance for your replies.

I got one done a couple of years ago, it was $75 at the time, email him though, I'm sure the price has gone up and because of projects he may want to coordinate when with you.

I got holes, easy opening, slight relief on the lockbar, the "Mayo" super acute edge, and a new thumbstud. Definately worth it IMO.

If you haven't talked to Mr. Mayo. . .you need to. Last I heard, he'd stopped adding "his touches" to Sebbies. But this info may be wrong. . .and if this info is incorrect, please let us know.

I've got a large plain that is Mayonized. Awesome mod's to an already awesome knife !

My Mayo tuned Large regular S30V has been my EDC for about 2 month's now,
mods include colored slabs, super smooth opening, dual studs, re-profiled blade with polished flats, and of course, the holes!

I emailed Mr. Mayo the other night about this, he said he's doing them still. From the sounds of it he also has a very, very reasonable turn around time on them. The price has gone up a little, but not much and it still sounds like a good value to me.

Let's just say that it is the absolutely smoothest and sharpest Sebbie that I've come across.

I traded emails with Tom today. He confirmed that he is still modifying Sebbies. Price is now $85.00, which is still a bargain.

The other thing you could do, is contact the SPyderco mod guy sc_rebel, and see if he'd work on you sebbie. I have a Ti salsa I'm going to ask
him to put some holes in.

Mine is a 2000 Classic in BG-42 with the same mods recoil's has. This makes an excellent knife better. CRK should offer this "tuning" as an upgrade option and have Tom do the work for them. The holes make it lighter and more "grippy" and give it a nicer look IMHO. The subtle hues in Tom's anodizing make the knife look a bit "richer". I'm not sure the edge reprofiling adds much to an already good factory edge. The real value is in the action smooting and Tom's dual thumbstuds. I've owned a lot of knives and the Mayonized Sebenza is the smoothest opening and closing action I've ever experienced.

My experience with the Buck-Mayo and this Sebenza has convinced me I need to save up for one of Tom's knives.

Does anyone know what Mr. Mayo does to smooth up the action so much? I have a small classic woody that is smooth, but from the sounds of it, Tom's work makes them even better. I obviously don't need the holes/ano, but making it smoother is always appealing. I wonder if he just polishes up the washers or what. Hmmmm......

The "Mayonized" Sebbie that I have has bronze washers. I think that it maybe a combo of polishing the washers and lube used.

What ever he does. . .it's slick ! :D

I'll be sending a Sebbie to Tom in two to three weeks. At this point I plan on sending my current small Sebbie (plain scales/stonewashed blade) that is unless I find a new Sebbie at the gun/knife show I'm going to on 4/17 and send it instead.
