I would love to see all the different incarnations of the Mayonized Sebenzas out there, if anyone cares to post any pics.

Thanks,
Phil

So I can't post pics, but if you want to see mine, should be in my grubby little paws soon, (G2 was nice enough to send me a pic of Mayo's work while he is working on the sheath)...email and I'll send you a pic.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the pics. I finally sent mine to Tom today. I'm sure I'll be thrilled with the results.

The thumblugs that he put on my large Mayonized Seb are more comfortable, not as pointy as the standard thumblugs. I really like mine and would recommend Tom's service to anyone with a Sebenza. He takes a really nice knife and takes it to another level.
   ;) :p

Scott and GigOne, thanks to your posts, I just sent Tom an email requesting info on his double thumb lugs. I love Sebenzas, but find the thumb lugs to be less than desirable...

Speaking of pictures, could somebody post some reasonably close up pictures of Tom Mayo's thumb lugs?

Well I can't post pictures but I would describe them as CRK thumblugs ground about halfway down leaving a nice flat spot on top.

I truly enjoy the original thumbstuds on a Sebbie. . .but like Scott Dog said. . ."Mayo takes it to another level !"

The replacements thumbstuds, that Mayo uses, are alot easier on the thumb !

NOTE: Not that there is anything wrong with the thumbstuds that originally come on a Sebbie ! :)

Below is a scan of the 2 different thumbstuds. :D

how easy are the the flat thumblugs compared to the original ones. i can imagine the flat ones would be more comfortable but i've always felt the pointy part adds extra grip.

I imagine that the pointy studs allow the thumb to float higher off the blade and still provide sufficient purchase to open the knife. Makes positioning the thumb a bit faster. I can't say for sure though since I don't have the flat studs.

Cheers.

Thanks Scott Dog. :)

I think that all thumbstuds (or thumbholes) require some getting used to. Some easier than others.

The Mayoized Sebbie thumbstuds are a little more comfortable by providing more contact surface for the thumb. If I had to rate the 2 types of thumbstuds. . .

- Mayonized = 10
- CRK Original = 9.5

A tight blade will also cause you to exert more pressure on the thumbstud (to open the knife). Thus causing some thumb stress.

That's why I always keep my Sebbies properly lubed/tightened.
;)

Cool. Maybe I should try them. My thumb is used to the Sebbie studs now but I'm sure it would still appreciate a flat stud.

Cheers.

Thanks for posting a link to mine DaveH! I am involved in a Small Sebbie passaround and if I win, its going straight to Mr. Mayo if he is still up to doing them:)
