Mayweather or McGregor

Connor will win. That is the only way to set up the rematch which leads in the trilogy fight. It is all a money game.
 
I can see that being a judges issue more than an issue w/ Connor.

Connor was a boxer before he was an MMA fighter so he knows the rules, and you have to understand that fighting is what he does for a living. He dishes crap but does not live that way.

Now I CAN see a judge or an overzealous reff. taking points for an elbow shove or a perceived head but.
They are going to be watching like hawks, and being the biggest payday fight ever... maybe looking to make a side note in the history books for themselves.

Guaranteed it will be a clean fight but it won't be pretty...
I think Floyd will be seeing UFO's like St. Pierre did after fighting Johny Hendrix.
It may even end with an equally WRONG decision.

I like the way you think. (I don't like the way they think!) Maybe something shady happens in the fight and Connor wins on a controversy. Or maybe he does an MMA move and doesn't get DQ'd (wink wink) leading to Floyd claiming he got hurt by McCheater's cheating that's why he lost and and wants a rematch to beat his cheating butt
 
I will say that if everything is on the up and up, I would expect Connor to fight clean because there probably are clauses in there that if he does an MMA move he loses a big chunk of his purse or something. Maybe some rough stuff in the clinch but no kicks or throws or elbows.
 
It's going to be under very strictly-enforced boxing rules. I'm predicting the fight may not be as exciting as anticipated, and am betting that Floyd will coast to a victory. I actually hope that Conor can KO him, because that's his only chance of winning, but I seriously doubt that will happen.

If anyone thinks Conor is behaving badly, Floyd Mayweather has always acted like an idiot and has spouted racist nonsense to/about others, and I'm sure it's more his true nature in real life than it is for Conor. If it were a boxing vs MMA fight, Conor would win very quickly, but Conor has never had a professional boxing match, while Floyd has never lost for 20+ years against the best in his division; he's not THAT old, and I'm certain he can still handle Conor in a straight boxing match. Floyd would NEVER have agreed to a match outside of his comfort zone, that would introduce an unknown factor, skillset-wise, from his opponent.

Sorry for paraphrasing...

I have to completely agree w/ you except for one aspect.
Floyd's opponents have been "mostly" street fighters turned trained boxers. This all took place well before MMA was a "thing".

MMA fighters are TRAINED to eliminate their opponent as quickly as possible.
It's a new world (in fighting), and Connor has the advantage. I (in my heart) believe this is a one horse race for two reasons...
1) Floyd has only SEEN MMA fighters. Never trained as one
2) Connor is a specialist. He beats people up for a living while Floyd boxes.

It will be interesting to see what happens. Ali vs. Godzilla
 
This is a boxing match.
Floyd is a boxer, a great boxer, an undefeated boxer, he is in the conversation of the greatest boxer of all time.
Connor is a fighter, boxing is only a piece of what he does.

Now if Connor commits to eating a few punches to get to Floyd he may be able to do something.

Connor has been hit MUCH harder than Floyd can hit.
That in MHO is the key to the outcome.

I still do not agree w/ Connors choice of camp but... It's hard to punch a ghost so there is something to be said on both sides.
That's what makes this an interesting fight (to me).
 
I think even at 40 Mayweather is still faster than McGregor. Not only that but it is reported on some videos by guys that should know that not only does Floyd hit harder than Conner but by quite a bit. Regardless, we all know it is all about placement and while Conner appears to be quite skilled at pin point placement of his punches I think with Floyd he will spend the night punching Floyd's shoulders and missing his head like the best in the biz, and faster punchers than Conner have all done in the past. I think Floyd will point win it leaving the door open to a MMA match if Floyd dares. In that he won't even last one round. Boxing? No way Floyd should lose a straight boxing match with Conner. I'd love to see Conner knock Floyd out cold as that would certainly satisfy me but I'm predicting an ice pack on Floyd's shoulder at the end of the fight and his good arm raised in victory.
 
Agreed, head shots will be a tough thing to pull off (for Connor).
The body shots will be easier. Larger target, and not as easily moved.

Connor is a smart kid but Floyd is a super genius (fight game) so it's all about a great game plan, and sticking with it.
Just a few more days to go... I'm stoked for this one.
 
I was reading about boxer Paulie Malignaggi, who had been brought in to help Conor prepare, and according to him, Conor wasn't doing well at all against him (I'm putting it mildly) during sparring, despite the claims by Conor's camp. Punching, boxing and ground and pound in MMA, and actually fighting an undefeated, too-notch boxer at his own game are two very different things. IMO, Conor would literally need a miracle to beat Floyd in a boxing match.

I like Conor and I strongly dislike Floyd, but I have doubts he'll even connect much against Floyd. I agree with STR that Floyd is still faster than Conor, at least in pure boxing/punching, and reactions to same. But we'll all know what happens in a few days.

Floyd will never agree to fight Conor again after this in an MMA vs. boxing match. No way. He knows that in a real mixed bout he would lose badly. He wouldn't want to come back and ruin his perfect record. He has an even bigger ego than Conor does, and would never dare fight in an unfamiliar type of setting where he's at a disadvantage coming in

I was rewatching some of Conor's fights, mainly the Chad Mendez and Nate Diaz fights. Mayweather won against Manny on points and by tying up in the clinch. In MMA, clinch work can be one of the most important aspects of their game (especially endurance). Clinches in boxing are broken up by the ref pretty quickly, but I can definitely see Floyd clinching up and Conor breaking it quicker than the ref can, and then clobbering Floyd on the break.

That can work both ways too.

Floyd is KNOWN for clinching, and taking that weird 1/3rd step to either side, and letting hands fly on the other side. Sucker punching as it is known in the street.

I do believe Connor can take everything Floyd has, and that will determine the winner.
Connor has 12 rounds to land ONE punch. Floyd can throw till he see' double, and not make a dent.

My Irish boy better not let me down.

Connor only has amature boxing skills. How is he going to beat one of the best professional boxers at boxing? Maybe at ice hockey.
