MBA Student Survey About Knife Sharpeners

Do non knife people even matter? Aren't almost all people who own more than just pull through sharpeners knife people?

Thus asking here and in kitchen forums could be skewed but it might be even more representative for the target group of this kind of product than asking random people on the streets.

Questions can be redundant in a survey. It's actually a good thing to ask the same thing differently.

If the question is if one would prefer an American product, in my opinion it is implied "everything else being equal" . Still might be good to write it out ;-)

Done. Needs more options than "electric" and "honing rod" for sharpener type (no conventional bench stones?) and the sharpening frequency. not a day goes by that I'm not touching up the edge on some tool or another, and that's excluding the sharpening work I do with my business.

Answered. The survey is very flawed but as a student assignment I suppose it will serve its purpose as a learning tool for you.

Finished it in record time... ;)

I tried to be as honest as possible too!;)

Done. As skewed as it may be, coming here, there is definitely value in asking folks who would actually be using sharpeners. I'd much rather ask a bunch of gun folks about gun cleaning equipment, than some random people off the street. Sounds like you know the audience, so I don't actually believe the results will be "skewed"

Try posting a link to this thread, or putting another thread in the other various forums here. Some folks only hang out in specific playgrounds. You'd likely get a different demographic in the Traditional forum, vs. the Practical/Tactical forum. Spread it around a bit.

Good luck!

I completed the survey myself and on behalf of my dad. I gifted him a sharpener for Christmas and gave him this same basic survey to figure out what he'd want and use.

Done. Other questions you could ask:
Do you care if your knives are sharp? 1 to 5. (Or how fussy are you about having a sharp knife?)
Do you prefer a sharpener which relies on operator skill, or a device which holds an edge angle the same for everyone even if the result is not as good?

I took the survey and found it interesting. I am sure if only surveying from this group you are going to get higher end answers. I also found it funny that the income question stopped at 80-90K. I guess you assume Knife people do not make 100K a year plus. I sure as heck don't but I have a lot of buyers who make well over the top of your yearly income range. Good luck in your class!
He's a student, he doesn't know what it cost to live in the real world ;)

And survey complete

I agree with some of the responses, especially with regards to skewed results. I think a lot of members think nothing of spending hundreds on a sharpener, when they have knives costing thousands.

Might try out some gun, camping or hiking forums. You'll likely find people there that collect knives but don't obsess over them to the extent that the folks around here do.

What he said. Good luck!
