MBK - Laconico Minpin or EZC ?

Blasted my scales today, they came out great! Now this knife is perfect! That stonewash just wasn’t for me, too slippery.

Oh man, that looks amazing. Turned out great. Did you blast the clip as well or leave it as is?

Thanks guys! I’m very happy with the way they came out. I blasted everything inside and out including the clip, I masked off the pivot bores, stop pin channel and lockbar insert pocket with clay before blasting. To me the original finish was too slippery, shiny and lets be frank “kizeresque”. Now the knife has some much needed traction as it is very small and a look that is more akin to the original.

Information in this thread and others has been very helpful to this flipper novice. The deployment of my MBK EZC was a bit sticky on arrival. A quick tweak of the pivot solved the issue. It now fires like the proverbial rocket.

Likewise, when the blade centering of my two Keens drifted to the right I was able to center them again. Dead simple fixes but unknown to me without this valuable forum.

Carried the EZC for a while now. It's a very nice smaller knife for me, smaller than I normally carry but the transition hasn't been too difficult. The fit is good, very reminiscent of Kizers I have had in the past. Same goes for the finish, had one tiny spot near the clip when brand new but other than that it is nice. After loctiting the pivot, the action has only gotten better. It's seemingly more snappy on the detent now which I like. Centering is good as well as 0 blade play. Had an issue with the lockbar sticking and popping (not traditional lock stick, if I opened it hard the lock would "stick" with the lock too far engaged. When I went to unlock, I would touch the lock bar and feel it *pop* to where it should normally lock up.) when it was brand new, which I figured would go away as the knife broke in and it did. All in all the knife now broken in is a very nice functional carry piece. Everything feels very solid in it's manipulation and I absolutely love the blade, very classic styling and utility. Possibly looking to jazz it up with some custom work in the future.

Edit: Totally left out my feelings on how it cuts... I think the proportions on the blade are perfect. The blade stock is perfect for the size of the blade, it just feels "right". Nice and thin down at the edge makes for a good cutter, but also doesn't feel feeble like some slicey knives can (I like a strong blade just as much as I like a slicey one). The taper at the tip is also very nice. Goes down thin but does not feel weak at all. I love my Spydies but one of my biggest negatives are the tips, they're so fine and sharp; good in some situations, not so good in others. The total package makes for what I refer to as the proverbial "sharp finger". Super natural, super controllable, super sharp! The thing begs to be held in a pinch grip;)

Great write up! Thank you

Haven't gotten it back yet, but grabbed a couple of pics from the video sent by the guy (Troy Sharp - tws777 on IG) who did the work. Troy was great to work with and the pics don't do it justice - on the vid it looks amazing.

I commented on the blasting pics and this thread in a reply to Slicey Dicey’s EZC review. I think the comment is pinned near the top of the comments on it (comment is by my YT name, Banter 247). I hope you get a little bump, Spikediesel Spikediesel . Your work is beautiful!

Thanks for the compliment man, I appreciate it!

Killer bronze job, looks like it’ll match your Keen well!
I think so. Did a satin bronze on the hardware and in the "channel" on the show side. It should look great. (I like using folks who are active members here. When I was looking for someone, I got very little help identifying someone to do this. Glad to know you're around. I was very happy with my experience with Troy, but will be glad to have options!).
