This instructional video shows how to open and pick a combination lock using a shim made out of a pop or soda can. You will need a soda, beer, or aluminum can and a pair of scissors. Check out this video conning tutorial and learn how to break into a combination lock.

I can't actually see the video, but I think I know what your talking about. I have tried this before and did not have any success. I think the quality of the lock plays a factor because cheap locks have more play in them.

Hello Q amigo

If you like the lock cracking stuff you might like to see what spins off from these guys. They hold conferences in Europe a bit like Defcon but for locks. They range from little meets to full on international with "LockCon"

What Andrew said. I've tried it on Master Locks and only succeeded in slicing the crap out of my finger. :(

Using soda cans is always going to give you mixed results. You should learn how to do that but if you are also interested in being viable, you should have a set of the manufactured type.
