I have the McHenry and Williams Axis and am pleased with it, but how does it compare to the new version?

Thanks a lot,

The Pardue is smaller. The blade is about .65" sorter and the OAL is 1.5" less. The blade on the Pardue is not recurved but is proportionately thicker and has an upswept point. IMO the Pardue blade is more versatile. It could be used in hunting (see the current TK issue). It has a solid feel. It is not lightweight, it weighs about 4oz. and has aluminum scales. I think it is agreat knife.

It's a little like a mid-sized Axis but styled differently. My neighbor has been drooling over the Pardue Axis as he thinks it would be a great skinning / game processing folder. He's probably right.

I carry the M&W 705 and 710 (the latter of which is often swapped out for a Carnivore) and have been impressed most with their sheer durability. I think the G10 is a better handle material than aluminum in that it's lighter and doesn't pit or scratch up (at least not near as bad from what I can tell). That swept point on the 720 is nice though...

Totally different animals. Same steel and lock, but that is it.
