I went out to McKinney Falls (about 15 minutes outside of Austin) to hike and take some pictures and thought that you might appreciate them.
Not sure if this area was on or off the trail, but it was a fun place to do some scrambling.
Just a few shots of the creek. I was tempted to go for a dip, but apparently there's an unacceptable PPM ratio of something potentially harmful right now, so I abstained.
Here's a cool overhanging area that's on the trail for sure. A great place to catch some shade.
The stuff I took with me. A OHT and old Leatherman knife, water, notebook/pencil, map, bug spray, and smushed sandwiches.
A very cool tree I came across with all sorts of vegetation growing on it.
A couple of shots of the Upper McKinney Falls.
Caught some turtles hanging out on a fallen limb.
I'm not sure exactly what this is, but it made a cool picture and looks like it would be an effective material for kindling.
All in all, it was a nice hike and a very pretty area (though I'm sure some of that will diminish this summer when stuff starts turning brown). Almost forgot to mention that if you want to see any of these full size (aka huge), you can check them out here.
