What type of phenolic from McMaster-Carr does everyone use.

I'm looking for green micarta type. They use different terminology for their product. Not sure what one to get

Thanks

You might want to double check this, but I'm 99% sure - CE Phenolic is electrical grade canvas reinforced, LE is linen reinforced, XX is paper reinforced. This is the stuff people refer to as micarta. I like CE the best, though LE looks really nice. You're probably only going to find these in black and natural (tan/brown) unless you get some from a special run.

There is also glass reinforced stuff which is not known as micarta such as G10, G11.

All of this stuff is phenolic based. You can also get polyester based stuff, but I would suggest you avoid it if you can, phenolic is better in my opinion.

For special colors, you're going to need to order from a knife supply house. I think Tracy has a good selection. Personally, I just stick to black and tan.

I could go for a Black and Tan.

The G-10 and G-11 Garolite are the same nauseating greens you'll find listed as "natural" for those grades of phenolic materials. I like the black paper (XX) Garolite, thought it tends to be more fragile and less grippy. Their page on Garolite is quite instructive.

Another good source of green G-11 is Jat Mat's potluck thread.

if you want a specific color contact Sheffields Knife Supply. I use McMaster Carr for Natural Only

I get Garolite CE in natural = brownish orangish and G11 in natural = the green on my website that's a jadeish color.
