Fresh from the McNees shop. Holy Crap is the only way to describe this knife. He calls it the Chopper. I call it your get out of Hell free knife. It comes with a 9" differentially heat-treated 1095 carbon steel blade. It is 1/4" thick and 2 1/8" wide with an overall length of 14 1/4". The contoured black G-10 handle feels amazing and looks very cool with the OD Green liners. The hardware is all stainless. Great feeling thumb grooves on the spine as well. Very nicely done!
To be honest, I did not expect it to come to me as sharp as it is. Most makers struggle to sharpen something so big. NOT the case here. His edge geometry is consistent all the way and it is ridiculously sharp. I know I keep saying this about his knives, but really, have you ever seen such a cool Hamon on such a big knife? I haven’t.
As soon as I received it, I was very tempted to keep it for myself. But, I just can’t justify it and know there are people out there who would put this to much better use than me. So consider yourself lucky.
