Mcusta 33D "Take"

Bump.
I had my eye on Mcusta for quite some time. Great thread.
Incoming Take with cocobolo. I can't wait.

Thanks for the bump rolf.

The cocobolo version of the Take (Mcusta 74D) is a very good looking knife - especially if the wood is nicely figured.

Of course the figuring on wood is down to personal taste -
but I have found for me it's best to buy in person,
failing that, a photo of the actual knife.

I was lucky to get a very nice cocobolo "Take" 74D, bought used, so I saw a photo of it.

You are welcome, Vincent.
I'm going to EDC this folder and use it. I will get a pic up. I should have it tomorrow or on Monday.
Thanks for the pic!!

Cool!

The knife does come with a decorative woven Nishijin pouch, so will help protect it from coins and keys in your pocket...
although once you see the pouch - there might be a reluctance to actually use it as such.

In which case, might consider those Sack-Ups 3" knife pouches that are more utilitarian.

If you like the looks of that Katana - could also consider the 161D "Tsuchi" Bushi sword -

In the pic I included the Nishijin pouch for the 74D "Take" - I think the material design batches can vary.

Thanks, men!
I did ask Mcusta if they'd consider offering some traditional Japanese blade shapes for their folder line.

The blade on the Bushi Sword is gorgeous Vincent!!
Is that one still in production??
Thanks!
Joe

Great thread. I made a Youtube video on a Mcusta several years ago. I think I compared it to a Mnandi. Great knives for the price.

Very much so Joe.

However stock can be variable -
they come in black (161D), purple (162D) and green (163D) handles

and there's a fairly recent one in golden yellow handle (164D)

Note: neither images are mine - got them off the web resized, adjusted and re-hosted them.

The blade is common to the 114D and 114BD (the larger "Tsuchi" 11-series)

Thank you my friend!! I am loving that bad boy!
Last Mcusta I bought, a Katana, I got in touch with them in Japan.......couldn't find one in stock anywhere.....and ordered from them. What a pleasure they are to deal with!
Thanks again Vincent........even though you just cost me a few bucks!!!

The "Tsuchi" Bushi Sword 16-series are not that expensive, if you shop around -
for example the newer golden yellow handle version 164D, I see on eBay for as low as $103 shipped.

The black handled 161D, however, may be scarce at the moment, and so commands a higher price, even if you can get it -
but if you're patient, it will eventually come back into stock, and hover at just above $100

I had a mcusta a couple months back. I had two huge problems with it actually. One, the thumbstud would keep unscrewing itself in my pocket. Two the liner lock would fail easily on me. I actually got bite by it because of the lock failure.

Hi! Hard to go wrong with a Mcusta! :) I own the Tsuchi Bushi Sword in purple (162D) and the Fuji Kamon Crest (0094D). For me they are amazing knives for the price point. Very appealing and “rewarding” from aesthetical point of view  but truly laser beams and very pockeable. Extremely happy with my Mcusta . Was thinking to get a katana sooner or later! My long versions here:

Enjoy your new acquisition!

Thanks a lot, Herlock!!
I should have the Take tomorrow. And, a katana is on my list.
