Mcusta QC fail

I just recently saw a post about a mcusta katana and the person who made the thread was showing how the knife had some qustionable QC. Well... after reading that post it made me want to buy one again I always wanted one after I traded my last mcusta off I liked it a bit and my buddys have some of the katana models and they are cool but they all had issues with their knives as well. I hear nothing but praise when it comes to mcusta online but from my experience they make cool looking knives with terrible quality control. I just got my katana in yesterday and I can't tell you how bad out of box this thing is shipped directly from them. Terrible scratches and weird dark colored blem marks on the blade that make it look burnt. The thumb studs were falling off and the knife has the worst lock rock I've ever felt. Also seems to be on very very gritty bronze washers even though they say these should have Teflon washers. The knife came dull and the only well made part is the aluminum scales. Here's a pic sadly my camera isn't good and can't pick up the minor details but you can see the darker colored blem mark and some scratches maybe. I spend 400$ on knives all the time but I still get mad when I spend 100+ and have this happens. A chinese sanremu I got last week for 8$ came out of box looking perfect.

Wow!! I ordered one from Japan Knives Direct. Paid $139 shipped for a Katana and it came in perfect. The washers are Teflon and it is very smooth, no play, flicks open easily, screaming sharp and not a mark on it.
That sucks big time.

Mine came with scratches and scuffs of the blade, and there is a spot where the anodizing is missing. Solid, smooth and sharp, though.

I was worried it would be too pretty to use, but the blemishes fixed that!

The scratches/scuffs look worse in real-life:

The part that looks like light reflecting os actually missing anodizing.

I'm sure if this really bothered me, knifecenter would make it right.

I don't mind too much though. It'll be a user.

Hi. Pity that happened! I only have two but both came perfect both in fit & finish and action. Still I consider them the sharpest knives I got out of the box. Both great slicers and users. Among my favourites EDC in urban/working environments. If defective it’s good to notify and send it back, warranty should work and Mcusta looks a reputable company. As side note, I believe manufacturers should work more on producing quality rather than inspecting it…

I also have a Katana and the knife is perfect besides, indeed, ugly scratches on the blade.
Somehow it feels good to know i'm not the only one :p

Who is "them"? Where did the OP purchase this knife? With the number of deficiencies cited clearly it should be returned and replaced.

I am going to have to say that I can't imagine why, after learning about the CQ issues and experiencing them first hand, with your buddy's knives you would then spend $400 and expect different results. I mean, $50 is a price to give it a shot and hope it comes out ok. IMO $400 isn't worth trying out a knife in which every other one you know to exist is not up to your standards.
I hope it turns out ok for you.

If actually purchased directly from Mcusta, return it.
I've seen them replace knives with far far less problems than yours.
