Its not really that gory, so don't expect it. I was touching it up on some 2000 grit wet n' dry and it decided to bite me. barely nicked myself i thought, but it went in fairly deep.

Yesterday I was cutting up a grapefruit, wasn’t paying close enough attention to what I was doing and cut my thumb pretty good. wouldn’t really be a big deal but the cut is right where my thumb makes contact with the thumb studs on most of knifes. Looks like its gonna be flippers and auto’s for the next couple of days.

When I was 9 I got bit by my blade and ended up getting stitches.....taught me never to play with a blade in the dark...

I came into this thread expecting battle scars, not flesh wounds. Man up.
Haha, but seriously, nothing is worse than a thin deep cut. They sting like no other.

Last time I got a super deep cut with a hair whittling sharp knife I made and I accidentally stuck the blade into my left forearm when doing a bottle cut test and I didn't feel a thing, but it was killing me the day after(cut the muscle in my forearm), I ended up getting 5 stitches(3 on the surface and 2 inside the flesh).

jaw dropped and was subsequently followed by a little bit of laughter. Not actually funny, just the kind of shocking that makes you laugh. That sucks though. Maybe you should think twice against your war with bottles, maybe try some diplomacy.

while sharp blades always cut deeper and sting like no other....its much better than some hack from a rough or jagged edge....a nice clean cut heals soooo much faster, cleaner, and nicer IMO

Got myself today by being stupid. Had a cheap tactical that the liner lock spring moved to far over on, used the tip of another to lever it back to the proper position, and got the palm of my hand with the tip. Hence my new sig.

thx - cpr

I agree, waaaay better to get cut with a really sharp knife, heals better. The most painfull cut I can think of off the top of my head is the time I took a small chunk out of my thumb with an ice cream scoop. Don't laugh, it could happen to you.

It wasn't really a slice that did it, it kind of just planted itself into my index finger, it was more surprising than anything. that first picture was about 5 seconds after I did it, had to grab a quick snap shot with the cell phone. the knife only went in as deep as the bevel on the knife. ill get a good shot of it tonight with the digital camera for those of you who care. and the knife was given to me by another member of bladeforums. funny.

Is that the Queen gunstock I sent you? If so, it looks like it is holding up pretty good.

Yup thats the very one. First time it cut me too, It hasn't left my pocket since you sent it to me.

Some of us were wondering how well it has held up. You put a poor little peanut to the test with your daily work. It looks like the D2 on that Queen is holding tough.

A few years ago when I sold my Sebenza, I was sharpening it and cleaning it up for its new owner. After getting finished I was taking some pictures of it and the phone rang and I set the knife down, still open, next to the computer mouse.

After talking on the phone for a while, getting something to eat, and watching TV for a few hours, I went back to the computer. The screen saver was up and I had to jiggle the mouse to get it to go away. Well, that knife happened to be sitting next to the mouse and when I jiggled the mouse, I also jiggled the side of my hand on a very sharp knife.

I felt a pinch and while it wasn't a very deep cut, it was a good three inches long and bled a lot. So then I had to take the damn knife apart again to clean the blood off before I shipped it out.

The new owner got a kick out of the story and thanked me for making the knife so freakishly sharp (which is probably the only reason I don't have a scar).

The only other really bad cut I've had was from trying to open a Spyderco Endura with wet slippery hands. My thumb slipped out of the hole and right onto the blade. It wasn't down to the bone, but I probably should have gotten stitches. I just put superglue on it and a bandaid with a layer of tape over that.

I had to EDC an AO for about a week and to this day there's a tiny spot on my thumb that has no feeling.

The worst, in terms of blood loss (the cut itself was maybe 2mm long), though was when I was sharpening a knife for a co-worker, in the office at work. The knife slipped off the sharpener and right into the vein on the knuckle of my left index finger. It bled for about six hours. I'm a horror movie buff and I've never seen that much blood in my life. It bled so much I could hear it dripping in a puddle on the floor. I don't think the fact that it was super bowl Sunday helped matters much either because after work I went out drinking while my finger bled.

That story makes my finger hurt.

By the way, any tips for using 2000 grit w/d for doing touch ups? i've tried mounting it on any number of mediums, but i haven't had much luck. my technique sucks. :(

Shortly after i got my random leek, i had it open in my right hand... i don't remember why. My little sister came running at me and grabbed onto my right arm, and i instictively tossed my knife into my other hand. That went fine, i have a strange ability to toss things between hands without looking. Then i tried to close the thing with my left hand. I awkwardly moved the lock bar over with my left thumb, and while trying to get my index finger behind the blade to close it, i ran the back of my finger over the serrations at the back end of the knife. put about a 5mm cut across the back of my finger, about 3mm down from the cuticle. We were walking into a restaurant, i ended up with a pile of bloody napkins. it bled for about 45 minutes. :(

@ morrow_j, ill post up some pictures of the queen in the traditional forums and write about some of the adventures i've had with it so far.

@tdrussell. ill send you a pm on how i sharpen. there are so many different ways to get a knife sharp, its all about practice practice practice though.

there was one time when i was younger, probably around fourteen or fifteen years old, i was sharpening this knife my dad gave me, it looked like a rip off of a Buck 110, but it was made by some unknown company, but it had Forester written on the side of the blade. I had just gotten my first Smith's 2 step sharpening system with the guides and everything. i was sitting there sharpening the knife (which has a 4 inch blade) and i had gotten done with the course stone and started on the fine ceramic stone when the knife slid off the ceramic piece and 3 inches of the blade slid down my same index finger and cut down to the bone. that was a bad night, that sucker bled for hours.
