My buddy keeps on about me and him going on the Mantracker show, the idea appeals to me but I get sidetracked too easy.Mantracker would end up finding me 50 yards from the flare site checking out some Raccoon tracks or Bear scat !!! That's what happened to me today when I planned on going for a quick walk !!!

This was where Maisy and me started off.....

When we eventually arrived here I decided to practice my fire making.

Off I went in the search of some Fat wood, but I soon came across some Otter tracks that caught my attention, they are not the greatest tracks but I like the fact that where they stop you can see the remains of a crab it had eaten !

With some Fatwood gathered I set up to light my fire....

It took me quite a few strikes, that's why it's good to practice, cotton balls light straight away but with natural materials you sometimes have to work a bit harder at it !

These were my tools, obviously I needed a great honking survival knife so here it is in all it's glory !

Making the fire I managed to scrape my finger so decided to look for some Snowberries as the juice acts as a natural Polysporin....

Then I realized just how much time I'd taken, better head back quick !!!!

Just as I'm making good time I come across this striking spider and find myself absorbed watching him for some time....oh well, that's what I mean about me !!!!!:o

I love reading your posts man, it inspires me to get out more. Now I just need a second 4 legged companion that can be trusted off lead :D

Stunning pictures! I too have had troubles with old mans beard.....that is it right?

I loved that show but they stopped showing it in the US. :(
I liked the one with the US marine and the Canadian SF guy, they outsmarted mantracker so much it was funny.

I want to be on that show also, wonder if they would let three's go. :D

Hey pitdog,

Great pictures, as usual.

I often hear guys on here bemoan the fact that the striker that comes with the Light My Fire rods doesn't work that well. I've never had any problem with mine. What's your experience?

Doc

I have often wondered about the same thing Doc.I have never had any problems with mine but that is not to say that some other method may throw a plethora of sparks by comparison !!!
I do know that using the top edge of my little Buck razorback throws a large amount very easily, maybe I should try the hallowed hacksaw blade !!!!

Cherokees are a great deal now and a pretty decent ride off road. They are no Rubicon but
are cheap and can be either left stock for a comfy ride of built into a capable off roader that can take the whole family. They are way cheaper than the standard jeeps used and are usually in better shape having been driven by soccer Moms. I see a lot of built 4X4 cherokees as hunting rigs.

Love your pics bro. :thumbup:Man I hate spiders, I don't care how colorful they are.

Man Tracker was the name we gave to an ugly chick I slept with that always showed up where ever I was:o
