Mean Street Proto

Some people missed out on an evolutionary link in the Mean Street line.
Like anyone else really had a chance on that tan/tan combo? ;) Seriously, very nice looking knife!
I really like the grooves, especially those for the thumb. I have thought about putting some thumb grooves on either a BA3 or SJ. Hopefully I will make it to Indy when you bring it.

Here is a picture of the MS Proto I got next to a Drop Point Hunter and a BAIII, the handle on the BAIII and the MS Proto are the same size (I compared it with a Satin Jack and it is also the same size).

Gene, you know me too well. I was on that pup when it was still half wrapped up in the paper. Saw those thumb grinds, the rest is hogstory....

Thanks for the pics!

What a bummer! These are destined to be safe queens and I could really see it on my belt.

I do have an older MS that was redone by another knifemaker as sort of a show and tell for another forum. Most of the finish was gone and the grips were so smooth it was getting dangerous. Anyway, he put a nice satin finish on the blade, roughed up the grips and cut some grooves in them. The nicest touch though, was the file work he did on the spine right where the thumb goes. The difference that made in the gripping was huge. Really keeps your hand from sliding foward when you jab something. The MS went back into my carry rotation and gets alternated between the AD and the SHBA.

This just looks like a really neat carry piece and I would carry it. I do have a LMS proto (like the one on Bad Mojo), but that just has too much collector value to carry. Plus, I like the 1/4" better and I REALLY like the blade shape/butt grind of this one.
