Mean Street

for real, a quick question, skunk, do you not worry about storing them in sheaths, mainly leather, i have always heard that the acid in the animal skins, may pit or rust the metal?

hey man, that is way awesome, but i have a feeling that the better half has not been shown yet, anyhoo, if you ever have a yard sale, I/We neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed to know!!

aaaaaaaaaaaahhh now i can drift off to sleep thinking about skunks drawers.

nice pics as well, man

another reason i need to go to idaho.

Someone with good search-fu should be able to find pics of Vickie using some of his rare ones. I think she's an INFI-Holic too. The best wife a guy could ask for!

I don't recall anyone ever having this issue. INFI is very resistant to rust.
I've had my user satin cultie stored in a leather sheath for almost a year and it looks perfect.

Depending how the leather was tanned there is a chance it can damage steel. Particularly chrome tanned leather (which generally is unsuitable for sheaths for this very reason) should be avoided. There's not much way to know if your leather sheath was vegetable tanned or tanned with some man-made tannage that will harm your knives. Unless you buy from a reputable maker who tells you they only use vegetable tanned leather.

Another consideration is how you care for your knives. If you even accidentally stuff a grimy or even a wet knife in your sheath and store it, you should expect problems.

I have a bunch of INFI that I keep stored in leather sheaths and I have not had any problem with them. I clean them after use, and in the field I always wipe them down before they go back in the sheath, on my pant leg if need be. I'm not telling you what you can, should, or should not do, but the above has worked well for me in my experience.

I did once color a sheath with "vinegaroon" which makes the leather highly acidic, and while the sheath was still slightly damp from coloring (doh) I stored an A2 knife in it for about 10 hours and that was a mistake. That blade rusted like you wouldn't believe.

i don't worry about it, i store my users in whichever sheath they were last used in. i use leather for belt carry in the woods and kydex when on the water or in 4 wheelers or camp boxes. i usually have one of each type for my users.

.

Skunk, it seems that the store is out of blades. I think you have enough in those drawers to supply the store for 5 minutes or so. BRING IT MAN!!!

Used my Lean Mean to make a Figure 4 trap today.

Going to bait it with diamonds and designer shoes and catch one of these.
