Meaning of Number

I have a Schrade + , Uncle Henry that I purchased many years ago. There is a number on the metal part of the handle that puzzles me. I have other Schrades that do not have this number, so I don't think it is a serial number. Or did they number some series and not others? Can anyone shed some light on this for me? This "number" is one letter followed by five numbers.
