Ray has often used one of the Duluth packs in his videos. The Duluth packs are not only very well constructed but comfortable as well. There are quite a few of us who prefer pacvks without a waistbelt. Personaly I use an old surplus Swiss military mountain ruck. I have carried upwards of 80 lbs. of gear in it on many occasions without any great discomfort or ill effects. Most of the time I am able to keep my load far below that, but on extended treks wieght goes up.
As to the Mears knife I've not even seen a picture of the blade. But for those inflated prices it had better do all the work for you plus serve drinks. It is hard to believe that I could buy three or four very high quality customs for the cost of that one knife. Some folks just don't have the sense God gave a Goose. Oh well first commandment of the Gypsies "It is a mortal sin not to separate a sucker from his money".
