The two ways I measure blade length are ---(straight line from tip to brass band) or--- (back of blade along curve or spine) On a 15" AK the difference can be about an inch. That's a reason why I use a tape.

I think it would be nice if we had a S.O.P. on measureing both blades and O.A.L.
I generally measure the blade from bottom of bolster to tip.
I have started measureing the O.A.L. by measureing from the tip to where the tang is braded over.
Generally the differences aren't too much as you say though Jay.

The civilized man sleeps behind locked doors in the city while the naked savage sleeps (with a knife) in a open hut in the jungle.

I measure khukuris like I do the wing span on an airplane. Wing span is how wide you have to open the hangar doors to get the plane in or out of the hanger.

Overall length is the total reach of your khukuri, thrusting with palm against pommel. Curves along the way don't mean anything.

Good enough guys. The way I will measure from now on is tip to bolster i.e.--- or in a straight line.
