This .250 inch thick, 4.5 pound, heavy-duty, two-handed meat cleaver was forged from W-2, high carbon steel. The face of the 6 inch wide blade is 9 inches long. It was hand ground by Andy Alm and heat treated professionally by Peters' Heat Treating. The blade was differentially quenched using clay, producing a faint hamon line along the grind. Not only is this cleaver aesthetically pleasing, it was made for superior functionality.

I stabilized some wormy American chestnut, which was reclaimed from my parents barn (built in the late 1800's) for the 8 inch handle. The pins are mild stainless steel, and the wood is finished with food grade safe oil and caranabua wax.

This hog splitter was made entirely local, in Crawford County, Pennsylvania, USA.

$650 Shipped to the lower 48 and no more than $18 more to ship anywhere else in the world. Message me for checkout or use my Etsy store: https://www.etsy.com/listing/265178568/meat-cleaver-45-pound-w2-high-carbon?ref=shop_home_active_1

Whoa! That is about 500% more cleaver than I'm looking for, but what a gorgeous and functional piece of work! Congratulations!

That would look killer hanging in the kitchen! I would be afraid of splitting my counter in half though!

Still wish I had the dispensable cash for it though!
