Just read your GFM updateMecha .. Congratulations on all the support and positive vibes! I’m confident this community, along with your friends & loyal customers will make sure you reach and exceed that goal number very soon. Stay up homie!
Mecha - dont second guess yourself. I’ve done some fire training - and fires can spread, and go explosive (“flashover”) FAST (the NIST videos on this are truly scary). First thing to do is get OUT. I know the loss of Kitty hurts (we have three), but chances are he/she hunkered down and hid somewhere and would not have come out, and you never would have been Able to find her..... I am so sorry....I'm trying to not think about it too much right now, as it leads to a lot of "what if..." and "why didn't I..." when in reality I'm really lucky I didn't get hurt other than a burned hand.

After too many stupid movies of people walking through smoke, most people don’t understand what you just said - that s**t is REALY toxic. Most people die from the smoke (as did the daughter of a friend of mine) not the fire/heat (because of that, I have told my son that I don’t care what it costs... but any apartment he gets MUST have a sprinkler system). Sounds like you truly had a close call. I am so glad you are ok.Oh I hear ya. It spread quickly and with great intensity. One staggering, choking breath of that smoke was all I needed to know that death was near if I didn’t run for it. Smoke of plastic, paint, oil, resins, and all the other nasty stuff everything is made from nowadays. I have footage of the blaze on my phone, which was the only thing I made it out with other than my wallet. I haven’t posted it anywhere because it’s just so insane. The stuff that made it through the fire somehow could fit in a shoebox. The destruction was that total.
My thoughts and prayers are with you on your journey to rebuilding and recovery. What a complete gut punch! I am so sorry you have to endure this catastrophe but I am pleased and grateful that you made it out without loss of limb or life. Things can be replaced, and I am sure you will find the energy and fortitude to do so when the time is right. Know that many of us will support you and also pray for your rapid recovery from this horrible incident. Please keep us informed and be not afraid to reach out for assistance or guidance. It is there for the asking. This is a close knit community, and many are generous and gracious.
Thanks Cushing H., and again to everyone else. I've put out my share of basic fires, but when accelerants are involved, it's a whole different ball game compared to just a substance that burns being on fire.
It will be ok, dsw0557. I have certainly noticed generosity and graciousness of the blade people! It helps drive the determination to get the ti sword machine going again asap.
There was something I didn't quite notice, though, until now. One builds up a sort of momentum when pursuing a big project or intense goal, and it was't completely noticed until it was gone, that I had a lot more momentum going than I thought. I'm attempting to apply energy and fortitude, but keep ending up muttering and trying to remember what I'm supposed to do next as things are slowly organized. It's frustrating to have it dawning upon me that getting momentum back is going to take a lot of pushing, like getting a huge flywheel spinning again.
Agree. The first few steps are always the hardest! Sometimes it helps to take some downtime to recover and regroup...
I echo the sentiments above posted by you, and the other food folks replying to this comment that it is indeed a pain in the ass getting back in the swing of things after that momentum is lost, but the silver lining is that this is the opportunity to tweak and refine your already proven processes and procedures into an even more well oiled machine after all is said and done. Those types of changes are really tough to make while everything is humming along smoothly. You’ll find your own ‘best practices’ again brotherThanks Cushing H., and again to everyone else.
