Medford blade thickness

I received a Medford Marauder last weekend and it's awesome, however the blade thickness measures under 1/4 inch thick. I contacted Medford and they said it can vary and it shouldn't effect performance. Has anyone else noticed their Medford blades are not as thick as advertised?

They should be close to their advertised spec(give or take a couple thou for manufacturing tolerances) but, I wouldnt worry its probably a good thing that its thinner. Their blades are generally way too thick for any practical application anyway imo. There are hard use knives made of thinner stock, at two or three times the blade length, that are near impossible to break even with abuse(Busse/Kin, Survive!, Esee, Kabar/Becker, CPK, exc.). There comes a point when its just silly and it greatly lowers cutting performance(no matter the geometry), adds a ton of weight, and all with no practical benefits. Medford is past that point imo. YMMV of course.

I never measured mine. it looks like its 1/4 inch. Its the same thickness as my Praetorian Ti. Very sharp and built like a tank.

I believe the sign of a good blade is that the billet of steel or blade blank is first ground flat. This always means that the finished blade is thinner than the 1/4" stock it started at.

The reduced thickness may have the unintentional side effect of being able to cut something.

:D I kid, I kid.

The two knives I had from MKT when I took calipers to theme were both at exactly .260 which is what I thought they were advertised at. Also as others have said they cannot cut worth a crap even after i put them on my wicked edge. Had to sell them it is embarrassing giving someone a almost thousand dollar knife and it cannot even cut cardboard well.......

I hate to say it but I didn't measure correctly. It turns out they are. 260. Please disregard this post
