Ok I'm not sure what's going on here buy I've noticed that Greg and his company get a bad trap from a few people on here. Some of the things seem warranted and others are vague at best. I'm not sure what a lot of you are looking for in buying a knife. I'm only asking because about a month ago I purchased a TFF-1 Fat Daddy and i couldn't be happier. My only issue was at first the price $850 (FUCK!!!) but once I got it into my hands it all made since. Trust me at $850 if the knife didn't live up to my expectations it was going to the exchange but it exceeded it by miles. So I'm just wondering why all the hate?

No because, I'm taking about a knife i bought not where i bought it and and the customer service.

I am glad I quickly passed through the MKT phase. For me it lasted maybe three months. Is he still charging that price for D2? Have fun with your knife. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

You actually paid $850 for the TFF-1? Correct me if I am wrong but did they not go for $550 at dealers or even south of $500 here on the Exchange?

No everyone enjoys every design. Folks share their opinions on the matter. There is no deal "here", just people that chime in and speak their peace. I'd also suggest you curb that language in your future postings.

Language got it

It's the "Fat Daddy" version full Ti and everything is beefed up

I personally owned a medford praetorian ti....cost $1200 & I was afraid to carry it in fear of scratching/marring it. It was also a little heavy for me, & I'm sure that fat daddy is heavy as well...I do think the prices are a little high, ( my personal opinion) but I'm thinking of getting a regular medford tff1 to carry, cause at $550 I think it's a good value for such a nice/beefy folder. I'm a fan of medford, but think the full ti versions are too expensive in comparison to G10 models..

I feel like they make a good knife but I think the pricing is ridiculous!! Its like 850 for a knife, +$100 for a better blade steel, + $200 for titanium hardware??!! $200 for Ti hardware!!?? That seems ridiculous to me!! I would rather have other knives at that price point!! Just my opinion people.

At the risk of being "vague", and as mentioned before elsewhere, the worst customer service experience of my life came from Medford Tool. It was so bad that I still can't shake it after considerable time (and additional subpar experiences from other unrelated companies).

Language is a form of self expression so I'm cool with it as long as young kids can't see it (under 12). But ti hardware for an extra 200 is crazy, I thought hinderer was overpriced but I guess it takes lots of time and material to produce. I want one but to go from 600 for g10 to 1100 plus for full ti dosent make sense to me. That might be aftermarket price but how so you double the price of a blade for adding another ti scale when all else remains the same?

Don't get me wrong they are great knives but I question the prices.

I did a bunch of reading on Medford and like most any company out here no matter if it's a knife maker, custom gun builder, auto maker or what ever there's going to be people that don't care for them, dislike, or had a poor experience. I take that all into account before making the decision to spend some money. I'm pretty new to the blade world and like most of us we have to start someplace in the learning curve. Cost is only part of the deal, not a big deal but is a consideration for myself at times and I can see how some people get their panties in a bunch when something costs so much or what ever. We all have opinions, we all have preferences and specific wants / needs when buying, right? Safe queen collector or EDC user (like myself), if I like it, it fits my needs, will do what I need it to do as a tool, not just eye candy then I'll buy it.

So I took the leap and going to give Greg and company the benefit of the doubt. There seems to be a lot of happy owners with the typical percentage of folks that don't care for Bedford, it's reality and it's like that everywhere. Not everything out here is every ones cup of tea, that's why we have a world full of selection!

My only real issue was finding one available now, how I wanted and for a fair price (MSRP or close to it). If the deal was good it sold fast. Otherwise the overpriced gougers on eBay (and other sites) and even some members here is what drove me to just place an order and wait it out. This way it's exactly how I want it, color, blade material, blade style, finishes on the blade / fasteners / side plates. I've got the time. :)

Titanium Hinderer scales are $200, so the pricing, compared to them, seems in line. Medford is all about customization on most of their knives, and like all makers, extra customization costs money.

This past Blade show was the first time I actually got to handle any Medfords, they're pretty damn beefy and I'm sure the $850+ knives are worth it, but to me as a user, I couldn't either open them up with a single hand, or they were just too big for me. I was looking for a TFF2 machete until Greg told me they were discontinued :(

But, the 187 F in the new deployment line fit my hand and was smooth. After the show I ended up ordering one from a local dealer as a user, I feel like $425 for what it is is a solid knife and I'll use it, now it's just the waiting game.

10% selling fees on ebay sucks, especially for an expensive knife. Just contact the seller.

Another story but just deserved mentioning.

But with any knife that is backordered as long, premiums are generally the name of the game. Supply and demand, and how much you really want something vs your patience.
