Medford Micro Praetorian Question

Thank you, brother. Your thread was THE reason I got one. Remember? I said I was going to do it, and once I held this one in hand, I had to have it. I'm actually carrying it today in fact.

I totally remember. I am glad you like it!! I would love to have one like yours. I like the tanto but prefer a blade shape like yours.

One last bit of information for anyone considering a Praetorian, the weight difference between my spearpoint, and Gizler's tanto shape is noticeable. I held one of each in each hand and the tanto is noticeably heavier, due to there being more "meat" at the top. I love them both. Not sure if that would be the case for the smaller versions, but on the fullsize, it's there.

Not just the blade, but also Mark's Praetorian is a G (G10/Ti) yours is all Ti, there is a very noticeable weight difference between the two.....

I think they are excellent knives, but my opinion is irrelevant as what constitutes an 'excellent' knife will differ from person to person.

Mark's review showed that they are extremely functional as long as you keep things in perspective.....

We tend to always want to compare everything to some type of 'standard' but sometimes a knife can just be fun with a ton of charachter and still work well enough. That's kind of how I look at the Praetorian.

It's kind of ironic to me that the note that comes with the knife states that they are not pocket jewelry, when the design, dimensions and weight of the knife pretty much relegate them to just that.

As far as designing a knife that appeals to me, the Praetorian is doing almost everything wrong.

Different strokes...
But honestly, I never thought I would go in that direction not too long ago (I am a long time and still primarily spyderco user), but who knew - I tried it, I liked it, I carry it (a regular Praet G). Not for everyone, but nothing is.

Indeed. Admittedly, my opinion is based solely on specs and images. No insult intended.

My initial reactions were the same. I saw everything on paper and it did not appeal to me. Then I had a Praetorian T pass through my hands and it changed everything for me.

The knifes not for everyone, and no you cannot compare it to a Seb, or a hinderer, or anything else for that matter. It really is in a class all by itself, and performs very well in fact.

Just like anything else, try one out, run I through its paces to find out if it's for you or not. If not, it will sell on the exchange with no trouble.
