Medford On Belay vs Infraction vs CRK

Haha. I don’t have any experience with Medford but I’ve heard good things. I think they can get heavy tho maybe? Certain models. I think Sharp & Fiery Sharp & Fiery and @Ajack60 have Medford’s and CRKs

To add a complicating factor, I think I fell in love with an Olamic.

I own a lot of CRK’s (majority 21’s), two Medfords and have had a number of Olamics.

It really comes down to what you are wanting to do with the knife. I am planning to either mod or sell my Medford Slim Midi. It is a nice knife with good action and machining, but I’m not a fan of the BTE thickness. It’s not a slicer. It’s not the most comfortable in hand when really bearing down on a cut.

Olamics are also very well made and their knives are comfortable in hand. I have owned and used two 247’s and a Busker. The 247’s are the closest in comparison to the size of your choices. The blades are well done as well as the scales and if the handle shape fits your hand, you can’t go wrong here.

All that being said, I would, myself, buy another CRK over either of the other choices. Why?
I have a medium hand. I lean toward generic handles so I can use them in multiple grips. I’ve gotten used to my 21’s and Zaan’s and they are now part of my “well known to my hands” tool kit. Can’t go wrong with their warranty, and takedown is a breeze.

My choice would be a CRK if you have never owned one. If you didn’t like it, they hold their value well, and you would have no problem selling it.

Good luck on your search! Have fun with it. :)

I know to each their own, but I've never been interested in Olamic. They just don't have much appeal to me.

They’re just too pretty to use. No one wants to take a $700 knife with purple and green and polished parts and go do work with it. So most of them end up safe queens.
Haha this is so true. I recently bought my first Olamic, a 247 Bowie…. When I got it, I was extremely happy with everything about the knife….except it is all satin… I mean it’s a beauty to look at, but a fingerprint magnet as well.
I sort of knew that going in, and mine will probly be a safe queen anyway or a light user. Not gonna take it to work, tho I’m sure it’s plenty capable. The blade thickness, (spine and BTE), shape and grind are similar to a PM2. Add S90V steel, and it’s probably the most capable knife in my collection. (unless chopping down oak trees, in which case RHK always wins lol)
Oh yeah, the “pistol grip” handle as I call it, is very comfortable despite my knife being satin/CF. The shape locks your hand in perfectly, at least for me it does, and I wear an XL glove (sometimes L)

I own Medfords, CRK, and Hinderers. Hinderer Is my favorite of the three, but with that being said most days I carry my Umnumzaan to work. Not sure why but it's usually in my pocket. But today I brought my very first Hinderer that I purchased. Also I just purchased an On Belay last week. It's way bigger than I thought it was going to be lol. I've yet to carry it, but it will land in my pocket eventually. And this thread needs more pictures!View attachment 2128329View attachment 2128309View attachment 2128310
Great pics, but put that safety on! Unholstered with the safety off? Should be cocked, locked, and ready to rock!

A solid thank you for everybody who commented on my post. It was extremely helpful in me making a decision in the end, I didn't chose any of them! I just was not excited about the sebenza and the Medfords were just too large.

In the end I did post a new thread. I ended up with a TRM neutron 2. I believe this is what I was looking for and even at a price point that's cheaper than what I was expecting to spend on this one. I am going to go ahead and lock this thread but I wanted to say I appreciated everybody's input and help.
