Well, after 16 months of waiting, yesterday i recieved my 2nd Praetorian Ti folder.

June 2014 i've tried to order a Praetorian directly from Medford.
First i guess i have to say, i'm not only collector but i'm NOT (only) a normal knifeuser at all.

My knife is my tool, wherever i am whatever i have to do shortly. I dont have/spend time to carry more different stuff with me, therefore i got my one-size-fits-all-tool, my knife.

In the past, i've used hardly few knives in daly (ab-)use. Just to be clear: it's not my intention to kill knives, its just the way of work, saving time and not carrying lots of stuff around me for some small excercises.
My list of hardused knives carries a Pohl Force Bravo I (D2), Messerkönig Darkstalker mini slim (N690co), Extrema Ratio Fulcrum II T Folder (N690), Zero Tolerance 350 (S30V), Strider SMF 3/4 (S30V) and within others, a Busse Team Gemini Medium (Infi).

Well as i tried to order the knife, i made a description for Medford and ive sent also some pictures of my used EDC knives...
Fast as the Medford guys are, i recieved immediatley an straight answear:

"Based on how you use your knives, Greg doesen’t want to make a knife for you."

*yikes* i was pretty shocked as i saw this email. I wasn't expecting such an answear.
It took few emails to explain what i want and what i need. Amy & Greg accepted my order with an estimated deliverytime of 40 weeks.

Well, at this moment were only one huge problem left: The word patience doesent exist for me :jerkit:
So i looked around to get another Praetorian knife asap and i did!

Well then, February 12th i could get my first Medford Praetorian Ti folde in D2 steel.
Since then, the D2 folder was my daily EDC knife.

The knife is really a monster - meant positive.
Everything is very well machined, very precisley constructed and extremly detailed.

The liner lock on the new knife was around 1/4 and locked well.
The opening was at the beginning a bit harsh, after some usage this disappeared fast.

If you open the knife by using thumg-forefinger by swinging your wrist - your hear it
CLACK
A martial, tremendous noise that calms your environment totally for some seconds.
Few times i had that while opening the knife: people was starring at it while i swing the praetorian to get the massive blade out of its scales.

The noise itself is an experience - you cant describe it - you just can hear and feel it :D
Whatever, a noise doesen't make a good abuserknife itself for me.

So what kind of work has this little baby done yet?
Daily work of my knives are:
- scratching around or on concrete, metal, wood, bricks
- prying
- hacking
- bash
- lever
- oh well and of corse some cutting work (sometimes) *cough*

The praetorian lies every time secure and strong in the hand, i'd never ever had a feeling or was scared to get injured. Every second it is save to use.
Even in wet conditions it wont get slippery while hard use.

As i knewed the D2 steel from my PF Bravo I, i was sure, the steel picks up the force i gave him, the thick blade keeps everything together, there is almost no way to crack anything.
For my usage, the tanto is very helpful, the blade for cutting, the tanto for scratching, lever and such things.

At my point, the only unknown factor would be the axis, so was my intention. If the scales and the blade would stand the force, the axis could be the critical part. But also very positive surprised, it takes the force witout any noticeable changes.

Sharpening: im not a good sharpener at all, but since two years ill sharp most knives with wetstones. At my usagelevel, there is almost every week resharpening necessary. Sometimes upwards from 800/1200/2000/3000/8000 and sometimes only some little resharpening.

Well, i guess this is maybe an unusal review but people who know me, know when a knife survives my work for half a year, it is a really good knife.

For me the Medford Praetorian Ti is the perfect matching EDC knife for my demands and i know it will do his work for a long, long time.

My result upon the Praetorian:
indestructable - made for eternity

8/10 look
10/10 durability
8/10 ergonomics
10/10 handling
9/10 price/performance ratio (compared to the lifetime of the knife)
10/10 workmanship / processing
8/10 edge holding ability

I'm glad i've purchased those two knives, also i'm proud to own those pearls. The name Medford proves for what they stand: good, durable and highquality knives.

How's the cut out on the ti locking side? I've seen reviews and comments that the cut out is very thin and might not withstand pressure compared to other frame locks.

Well you might not know me, but believe me, when a lock survives my handling it is withstanding almost everything :)

I never had a failure or noticed anything else suspicious.

havnt held one but from the pics and videos the full "Ti" should be pleanty thick enough. Im on the fence about ordering another already or a Maurader.

I like the heavy duty design of these knives although I think I like the bowie type blade they make better. Thanks for the review it was quite helpful.

Nice review, thanks for sharing.

Sounds like you use your knives about as hard as mark! (gizler00) lol

Thanks for sharing!

Looks nice but maybe I missed something, was this a custom job for you, or is this folder a stock item?

Wooow, I would love to know how you did that to the strider! lol

This is entire thread is so obnoxiously stupid.

Thick pieces of metal are tough. We get it.

In this thread: Affluent abuse of overpriced, thick-stock steel.

I disagree. The OP stated;

My knife is my tool, wherever i am whatever i have to do shortly. I dont have/spend time to carry more different stuff with me, therefore i got my one-size-fits-all-tool, my knife.

So he based a review off of that premise. He needs a knife that can take anything he throws at it, and the Praetorian, while not my style, fits the bill for him where others have failed.

Thanks for sharing the review facehugger!

Oh, so if you state that you use knives for stupid things, everything hat follows is okay?

Got it.

Actually, forget the sarcasm: That's dumb.

Oh please help us all out and give us a quick list on what we can use a knife for based on your opinions, bias, and general lack of knowledge about what a well made tool can do.
It would be so helpful and appreciated.....

Besides the sheer ignorance of your comment, there's a little point that goes something like; it's the OP's knife, he paid for it, he knows what he needs it to do, and it works for him.

Beyond that, nothing really matters.....

Hi what you say is true, however (IMHO as a complete newbie here but NOT a newbie to using knives in the field and for work) when you start a thread and state that you are using your knife ( especially in this case, an expensive folder) for those things he listed, then I think you'd be better off with a geology pick LOL) but seriously, ok each to own
+ and good luck to those who can afford expensive knives just to abuse them, I can understand why Medford didn't want to make a knife to his criteria to begin with. What this forum needs ( maybe there is and I'm showing my total ignorance) is a area just for "Abuse of Edged Tools", I'm sure it would be a huge success- seriously.

I really can't find fault in our Swiss friend's use, maybe abuse, of his knife... It's his, he can do what he wants with it... And if it is extreme or even beyond what one typically does with a knife, then I don't mind hearing about how it does/ does not hold up. I don't have to do the same, nor does this thread obligate others to abuse their knives. Calling it all stupid adds nothing substantive...
