Medford question

Quiet is correct, Medfords can be anything from a pocket tank to a pocket howitzer. So, it isn't about quality-rather quantity.

You'll get both from Medford. So, then it becomes about style and use.

What do you need to do with your knife?

My ex collects knives and he had a Fighter Flipper and that knife was part of the reason that I started dipping my toes into the hobby. Part of what caught my interest was how well made it was and how smooth and solid it felt when you hear that click when it just locks in. As someone that only used those cheapos off amazon for 12-16$ I never used a real folding knife before so getting my hands on one was like a "wow this is really awesome" moment for me. All that backstory aside, I have limited experience with the brand as the only two I handled were owned by other people and one was in a display at a store. The fit 'n finish though was incredible and care and attention was put into them like a real handmade aspect to them. My Midguards Messer knives come close to size and weight at a fraction of the price so I usually just go with them for my over 10oz folder knives.

I have no experience with their fixed blades but do own 9 of their folders, everything from an On Belay, Praetorian and 187 on the large end to a few Slim Midis on the smaller side. I have found that their blades come exceptionally sharp and their hollow grinds are amongst the best. The machining and finish rivals any maker that I have experience with. Medford has come along way in the "pocket hog" category as the M48 and Slim Midi are quite nice in the pocket, but for me they are a little too slim the lock bar is a bit of a challenge to access for my fingers. They are "evolving" as well they are now regularly using bearings, and have even now produced ... gasp, a front flipper. All in all I like them quite a bit.

People like to joke about how big and unpocketable MKT knives are, but my Praetorian T is one of the most pleasant knives while in pocket ive ever had. Just gotta be careful when in parking lots lol.

The praetorian is hilariously large, I would like to give one a try one day. I showed my wife a picture of one and she referred to it as a “chode.

In my opinion as quite a big Chris Reeve collector, Medford knives are absolutely unbeatable. The quality of construction, individuality and rock solid construction for me, make them the only knives I now buy.

I can buy a set of tires or a laptop from the price of one praetorian, and since I'm married spending 1,500+ on a folding knife isn't a smart decision

I have a 187 that Medford custom engraved for me. They are great to work with and really impressed. A+
