Was happily planning out my new setup for gear now that I have my 5packer, and was wondering if anyones bought kits from
http://www.chinookmed.com/

or heard anything of/about them?

I would like to buy a comprehensive kit for burns, minor cuts to large lacerations, and etc. If anyone can suggest a better place, and link? It would be greatly appreciated :)

Hey LittleSpartan,

Any purchased kit should give you a wide variety of medical cover, though some of the items are "cheap" low grade material. I tend to add more of the high use things, tape, gauze,(to make band-aids), and a bigger antibiotic gel(neosporin) to mine. You want to make sure you cover YOUR needs too. Allergies or prescription meds you might require. I have seen people fall in the field because they didn't bring their meds. Plus if you don't know how to use it, you waste the space, so practice doing some first aid.

Good Luck,

Mike

I've heard good things about them as a vendor.

If you mean the comprehensive FAK in their kits section, it's an AMK Comprehensive kit, and AMK makes some very nice stuff.

Chinook Med are good folks. I buy all my first aid supplies from them.

Thanks guys, this is exactly what I was hoping for, good solid input. On the list is buy from them, than sell some junk laying around I don't need, try to quickly buy a Esee Bag, Tacticool Black or Khaki :)

no matter what you buy, make sure you put some fire starting method in your FAK in case your main PSK gets dropped, lost or wrecked somehow...i also always add afterbite to my FAK..its an excellent bug bite/bee sting ointment..works like a charm....i would also add a small multi tool as well.

I was looking at those really small leatherman, but am wondering how effective those really are :\ I usually carry a Sog on my waist.

Hmmm...
Pouches, organization and ability to pack and hide well into compartments or small extra nooks, are a plus for me. I am currently trying to also build a box for my new truck project, as a in vehicle prepared and ready box. I am thinking a new izula, and junglas when it comes out will go into that sucker, as well a few other items a person wouldn't normally be able to carry with or on them, but stored in a vehicle could come in handy, like spare clothing, sleeping bag, etc.

jeff did an article in a past swat issue of the tin can packs that were issued to marines if I remember correctly, comes with a fair and good assortment of items in it, I am going to look for that later after I get back from grocery shopping later.

I buy all my medical gear and supplies from Chinook Med and have nothing but great service from them, and prices. They have one of the best selections of field supplies you can find and their kits are top notch.

I'd suggest a leatherman Micra. It has scissors, and TWEEZERS!! Granted they aren't that great but for a back up! You don't need extra pliers in your FAK!

Hope this helps!

Chinook is a good place.
I have had good luck with Rescue Essentials as well.
I carry a micra in my sewing kit, for tweezers I use sliver grippers for minor stuff but carry 3 Tweezerman tweezers with different tip designs.
I highly recommend them.
I also say like others, a first aid kit is not a drop-in module.
You need to add stuff based on your needs and your environment.
I strongly suggest adding a Sawyer Extractor.
Never used one on anything other than mosquito bites and bee stings but it seems to help a lot. I seriously believe it would help with a snake bite if applied correctly and quickly.
