Here is my Medieval Hatchet that originated out of the antler I got off the Elk I havested this year.It was a five point and the display antler is the four point side. What is offered is the display of one side of the Elk antler and the Hatchet of my own design and I thought it would be a neat idea to add a photo of myself with the Elk.The Hatchet head came from my good friend Leroy Beard who has also knapped a few Hatchet heads for several projects I completed and sold.Leroy passed away last Thursday so whom ever purchases this item is going to get something that I think will really appreciate in value. His talent and friendship are going to be missed by many.Specs for the Hatchet are below.
Hatchet OAL;11 1/2 inches
Hatchet Head; 15N20 & 1095 Damascus steel rockwell hardness 58-60.Head is 7 1/2 inches in width and approx.6 inches deep.Handle is pinned and appoxied to Elk Antler handle.
Hatchet Handle;Elk antler wrapped at top and bottom of handle with sinue.I inlaid a piece of fossil Walrus ivory on the top of the handle and scrimshawed a Celtic shield on it.On the but end of the handle I attached and pinned a large piece of fossil Walrus ivory and scrimshawed a Celtic warriors head. Also attached at the bottom of handle is a small plain piece of fossil Walrus ivory facing forward which really gives the handle a really positive strong grip. Both pieces of ivory on the bottom of the handle are spaced with a piece of copper.
Display; Display is a clear piece of extruded acrylic with the Elk antler epoxied to it.
This Hatchet is SOLD
Asking $385.00 for the Hatchet,Display and the photo and that includes free shipping in the USA via USPS Priority Mail.Paypal will work for payment at R2D2Fly@charter.net Thanks very much for taking a look and comments are always welcomed.
