Two medium sized PSK knives.
What's a PSK knife?
I've pondered this a bit, and I think first and foremost, a PSK knife
needs to be a knife you can survive with. Meaning you can do what you
need to do with a knife if it ends up being the only one you have.
I've had knives in the past that were designed to do multiple duties-
my favorite in terms of utility being the type that can be made into a
javelin or fishing spear. Problem is, I never found one that was worth
a damn. So I started making and testing them myself.
These are PSK knives that are compact, really will work for a
javelin or fishing spear head, and works well as a bushcraft or
survival knife.
Here's two of the medium sized ones:
Both knives are .095 15N20 steel, differentially tempered, convex
ground. both knives are filed for lashing with two pairs of notches
forward and one pair aft. two holes, 1/4 inch diameter are in each
tang for mounting scales.
The khaki one is 6.5 inches overall with a blade length of 3 inches
from the edge. underwrap is butyl rubber (ranger band) strip about 1/2
inch wide. Over wrap is 550 cord. The sloping spearpoint penetrates
well and has a strong tip.
The sheath, by Koyote Girl, is waterformed and double needle hand
stitched. The belt loop is balanced so the knife will hang well on a
neck cord. I cna include a couple feet of extra khaki 550 cord for
that purpose.
The red cord wrapped one is 7 inches in overall length. Blade is 3 1/8
inch. This knife is ground with a swedg eon the upper half of the
spearpoint. The swedge is ground to about 1/32 flat. It would be very
easy to put a final edge on if needed. The underwrap of butyl rubber
9ranger band) is visible on this one as the over wrap pattern is
open. It has a bit more hand feel this way. Over wrap is red 500 cord,
with a lanyard loop
Sheath on this is a waterformed simple pouch, right handed, doulbe
needle hand stitched and done by Koyote Girl.
BOTH are SOLD
thanks!
If it's important to anyone, these are the first two of these I
stamped my mark into.
Thanks for looking!
These three are still available:
