/Every/ /time/ I decide that I have enough knives...

Anyone seen one of these at a dealer? Or have they been out long enough that most of the dealers/distributors should have them?

Make the Meerkat with G-10 and the reverse "S" blade and I will buy one for my key chain in a second...

Hi Carlos. The reverse "S" version should be available beginning in January, along with some colors.

Thanks Sal.

2 blade styles + colours = lots of SKUs

Will this model be replacing/displacing some current 2" blade models? With the "world knife," it seems like you have a comprehensive new lineup of small knives.

Looks like I'll eventually have to get one of these. I will be looking for the standard-bladed one. Seeing as to how I love 440C steel, am curious about this new lock, and am looking for another small knife that is Spyderco, that cuts big for its size, looks cool, and not scary-looking, I must own one.
What is the MSRP on these?
Jim

I think the MSRP is about $52. Now that I've had this little guy for a couple of days, I'm even more sure that I like it. The handle shape is brilliant. It really is a small knife that works like a big one.

G8 looking little knife! Why the three indents on the back of the handle? Those 'cut outs'? What are they for? Better grip or something to do with the lock? Cheers!

Sal, I recently checked your Spyderco Factory Store web page and the Navigator was listed as having a GIN-1 blade. You might consider correcting this.

It really surprised me to find out from you that the blade is now VG-10! Now I am considering selling my never-used plain-edge Gin-1 and G-10 handle Navigator and purchasing the plain or serrated-edge slotted Almite handle, VG-10 model instead!

I just emailed SFO about availability of VG10 Navigator and they replied that it's not available.

On that VG-10 Nav, let me check dates on when it enters (or enterred) the pipeline. I'm finished with the changes long before the actual change ocurs and product hits the streets. If I can't get it tomorrow, I'll get back next week. (travelling).

Sal, I am very interested in the Meerkat. Do you know when they might be available? I have called your local deale down in Fredericksburg, VA, and the person asked me "Meer what?". When I called the SFO, they said to try back on Friday, maybe.

Well, I got my Meerkat from Becker's Cutlery in Cary, NC, Number 157. Thanks, Blades. But it came without instructions, and even though I triecd very hard to understand how the lock works when as I opened it, it still fooled me on trying to close it. I had to look up this thread last night and read Shmackey's post to figure it out. It's so d*mned simple when you see it, but not easy to see. Thanks, Shmackey.

It is a great little knife, just what the doctor ordered for a federal worker in the after effects of Tuesday, 9/11/01, when security has gone from the ridiculous to the sublime. I understand the need to tighten up, it was much, much too loose, but they have gone crazy down here in DC, and even though my Gunting is legal in this town with its 3" blade, I don't dare carry it, it's just too ostentatious at the moment. The Meerkat is perfect!

Anytime FullerH. www.beckscutlery.com usually has whatever I want.

So I was in Cary tuesday and went by Beck's. Patsy lets me look alot. She has all the new Spyderco's. If there is something your looking for email Beck's. Tell her I sent ya. She has the CF Civilians(left and right handed), Inlaid Vesuvius(very nice with the silver Spydie), Temperence, Trainers, Commemorative Worker, signed(by Sal) Spyderco book's, just everything Spyderco.
So anyways I played with the Meerkat, Temperence, Vesuvius, and a few others. Said my goodbyes and headed home. Now somehow, when driving home, I found Meerkat #27 in my car, in a Beck's bag with receipt. I guess I bought it. :) So I played with it driving home. The lock takes some practice. I still have to look at the knife to close it, but what a great little knife. I recommend one to everybody. :)

I really like the Navigators that I have and will definitely be getting both the Meerkat and the slipjoint when they become available.

I have no complaints with the standard blade profile but I'd really liike to know what advantages the reverse-S offers to the user. And any disadvantages as well.

I honestly can't see the attraction, so I'm hoping someone will be able to enlighten me. After all, the cricket can't have been so popular for nothing, right?

Thanks

Dom
